Other forums are bloated and full of crap I don't want or need. I don't want people to be able to change fonts, colours and text sizes unless they have to. I don't care whos online or reading such and such thread or forum. I don't want a profile or "rep" counter. And so on.. Only thing I do want is a decent search function. And Chribba provides....

BECAUSE PHPBB is popular, it's open source and there's 70 bazillion hacks for it, for an MMO (especially as competitive as EVE) you want a bespoke forum with the least amount of features as possible.
