I did the level 3 Sansha deadspace mission last night which involves killing 3 x 95K + 6-8 x 10K Sanshas.
According to the devs deadspace is supposed to discourage kiting, but I kited anyway using a Thorax fitted with an oversized afterburner.
I don't really see how you could do this mission solo in a cruiser without kiting. For example, if you used a Blasterrax and moved in close you would have 8-10 ships firing light missiles at you simultaneously. No cruiser is going to last long.
In general there seems to be no way you could do any level 3 mission with the umpteen rats in a Blasterrax. So is the Blasterrax strictly a PvP setup? _____________________________________________ I am motivated by various things, mostly ISK. |

No, you can still use them in the belts, too.
But for deadspace, go get a missle boat. Seems to be the only approved type of ship for deadspace.

I use an overcharged blatser brutix on level 3 kill missions.
San. Character "Widescreen" is a scammer; beware.

Some months ago I used to do all level 3 Kill missions in a Blasterrax.
Sure, sometimes things got hairy but I think I only ever lost one (against three Guristas Infernos back when they fired cruise missiles).
They have added a few harder lvl 3 missions since, those might not be doable in a Rax.

For a few minutes that mission with Sansha spies confused me as well until I red mission desc. again. You're supposed to kill only spies and one sansha sentry gun, not all the frigs. Used em hardener and 250mm with antim away from frigs and that was all.

It is true that the blastered/armor tanking Thorax become less effective after the 3007 patch. Level 3 agents now release a serie of deadspace mission. Even blockade mission was changed (problem is that even the opponents are changed : before I used to kill Serpentis for missions, now none of my mission asks me to mess with them, however my agent offer only ask for Serpentis tags...). The reason of the ineffectiveness of the close combat Thorax is that you can only jump to 60 from rats spot in deadspace and the time you take to come close (even with mwd), you get the whole lot of their missiles in your face. And don't forget the cap you use with mwd that was destinated to repair/harden you armor. The only way is sniping with 250 mm guns and keep your smartbombs ready. Your drones can now help you a lot because rats don't bother killing them any more (what I fear before is that my drones can easily get killed by missiles). I completed all deadspace missions with Thorax/Brutix equiped with 250 rails + cap rechargers + armor tanking and I have no problem. I think that blasterax will now be history for mission. It is still good for pvp against nasty slow sniper :)
