Doing the generic lvl 4s then suddenly my sensors go crazy, a neutral pops up, I get nervous and immediately check if I have all the mission specific loot and I do, I then salvage everything and warp off.
It would seem from the time he appeared to the time he left it was very quick to salvage so I assume he is a ninja salvager, though I have no proof. So I convo him, his English is really bad and I barely understand a word interestingly enough we dont talk about salvage / loot at all.
I have been mission running sadly for many many months now but checking the loot and actual salvage I got I must say it didnt look like I was short on anything
I make about half a bill a day just on missions, lets assume a ninja salvager takes 1 mil worth of salvage, thats 0.2% loss in my earnings, however since this is the first time this has happened to me I must say it doesnt seem like a big deal
So I guess what I am trying to say is, considering the amount mission runners make, is ninja salvaging really a big deal, if this guy spoke good Enligh we probably would have still been talking, mission running gets quite boring you know :( This is so not my main

Here's my suggestion:
Give the rats/NPCs some moar brain => They shouldn't just shoot the one who entered with uber tank and wouldn't pop anyway, BUT develop sneaky tactics and relocate ALL their firepower on another player in this area, so noobs within the fleet will pop in no time(including ninja salvagers).

This isnt much of a nerf tbh, I say give rats an increase in damage, resists, speed AND more EW, like neuts etc
Plus lower the junk you get seriously the amount of minerals you can 'mine' from mission junk is insane

The average amount made of missions is usually between 40 - 80 million per hour depending on how good a person is AND what missions he gets, I know you want people to prove their life to you but honestly you not believing makes no difference to me This is so not my main

Make that between 25-50 and you are closer I reckon.
Also 10 hours of missioning a day would totally freak out and bore to death a lot of players I suppose.

500mil a day seems like an exaggeration to me. When I actually ran missions a lot, I'd average around 15mil an hour just from bounties with an average fit Nightmare. Didn't loot or salvage either. Even if you spend 3/4 of the day in missions, you should only be making around 300-350mil a day with a good fit and high skills.
As for the actual topic, no, ninja salvaging isn't that profitable without a serious investment and teamwork. Even then it's still not worthwhile compared to other methods of earning ISK. Most seem to do it simply for the carebear tears it causes. Personally, I find it entertaining on the rare occasion that one enters my mission. It's funny watching them dodge bullets after you shoot a trigger and cause a respawn to drop on them. I don't loot or salvage either so if they live, they are more than welcome to the wrecks as long as they leave the mission item.

Bounty < Loot < Insignias < Salvage
All skills V and it is a team effort, anyway the point of the thread is about ninja salvaging, didnt realise people would feel threatened about the ISK comment I made.
Also Bouties are nothing compared to the ISK you make in loot / salvage and again it 'depends' how you do the missions, there isnt one way and it is VERY easy to make upto 80 mil (though my average varies) This is so not my main

The ISK from loot and salvage is mostly based on chance, and it depends on the mission. If you have someone to salvage for you or an altto do it, then of course you can make more ISK that way. But running solo you're usually better off just speed killing the NPCs and moving on to the next mission.

Pics or it didn't happen? I find that pretty unlikely.
And for the rest... the junk belongs to no one until salvaged. There is nothing you can do about it. And if you're bored with mission running, try something else. ________________________

All Sleeper AI really does that's different is switch targets and focus fire. Class 5 sleepers are mostly so hard because they all scramble and do an insane amount of damage, but Class 3 (still harder than any L4 mission) is a cakewalk that you can do with 2 Drakes because they keep switching between them instead of focusing on one

Yeah, I've had my issues with ninja salvagers. Usually I just ignore them, as most are there simply hoping to bait you into aggro so that they can warp in a logistics ship and kill the mission runner.
I had a drake do that one day do that with my mission char, so I just logged in my PvP char on a secondary client and wandered my Tengu in. As expected the drake had a Basilik come in to support him once my Tengu started tearing him a new one.
So my Paladin simply locked up the Basi and popped it in two salvos, then turned on the Drake which did not last long at all. We then returned to station to clear the mission and wait out the screaming smacktalk that commenced.
Undocking 5 minutes later we found a Navy Raven and another basilisk waiting. Again, dead Basilisk, but the CNR managed to dock in low armor. Poor lads didn't seem to realize that an Abaddon can reach out quite easily with Scorch... ;D
I still see them now and then, but never in my missions. --- Dreamer: My dream, Freddy! MY RULES. Freddy Kruger: *groans* Awwwww, f**k. --- Never give up! |

In order to pull 100mill/hour from missions (Which is what you are claiming, unless you really want us to believe you are doing missions for more than a 5 hour sit-in), you must have a pretty pimp ship.

No.
half a bill missioning is what you get if you run missions the whole day with max skilled carebear.
I run missions to support my activites, but I get 50 mill a day, because I play sane hours and do other things then missioning

I don't understand why anyone would ninja salvage when they could kill the aliens themselves and make double the money.

Wow, I can't believe people are jumping on the half a bil remark. Obviously no one has seen any of the threads on mission running profitability. If he missions for 5-6 hours it's a believable figure. Hard to achieve without great skills and a pimped Vargur/Golem but perfectly believable.
Besides the OP's point still stands. He is asserting that A. He makes a crapton of isk from missions B. Salvage is a small fraction of that crapton. C. Because of A+B why is ninja salvaging such a big deal?

Missions take standing and lots of good skills along with pimp ships to make the really good iskies. Ninja salvaging otoh is available for a week old fresh out of the vats. Plus you can make a rather nice income from ninjaing as you just warp to the next mission in the mission hub and keep salvaging as the mission runner has to kill all the rats then turn in the mission and possibly have to go several jumps for the next. Basically in the time it takes your average mission runner to complete a large level 4 you could have salvaged many times that amount if you know what you are doing. Also in the hubs due to so many missions being spawned you never have to leave the system once. So yeah it can be quite lucrative especially as missions like angel extravaganza tends to always spawn in the agent system so you get lots of trit bars to salvage vs the only once in a while for a specific mission runner.
