will shred ****, but will waste more time motoring around than you notice. time wasted in PVE=Isk wasted.

Proteus its not viable for pve, use an ishtar or crosstrain to tengu.

I think if you set it up for drones and use rails it would be alright I'm guessing. I don't fly Gallente though so not to sure.

I have a Prot set up for drones, main problem is the bandwidth of 100, means cant use more than 4 sentries or heavies, Drone bay is 220 m3 which limits how many sets you can carry. medium rails are a non event, short range and low damage.
I use mine with the Tractor sub to fill the role of 40km tractor/salvager with the benefit of bonused medium drones to assist the mission runner.
The Ishtar matches the Proteus tank, has up to 375m3 drone bay, 125 bandwidth.
Gila is the new kid on the block and matches the Ishtar, with much easier skill reqs.

I can confirm. Blaster Proteus has lots of motoring.
I was wondering if the extra isk from L4s in lowsec maybe make up for the motoring.

with the projectile changes a while back, the Kronos took the Vargur's spot as the most "meh" Marauder. On paper (Eft) The kronos looks sub-par but in action I had no problem with it.
Using 425m T2 with faction AM and 3 garde II's I was doing lvl V's for over 6 months, that's around 150 missions.
Most missions took less than 1 hour, With rails you have to pick off the smaller faster rats at range as they approach, leave the larger ships till the former are down, With my setup I have roughly a 50km optimal on both Sentries and rails. Ofc no way the kronos can tank a Lvl v solo, it was gank fitted with a Passive Nighthawk taking all the incoming.
After reading all the praise for the other Marauders I believed the hype and started cross training, kronos is retired now and lvl v's are on the back burner.

tbh kronos always was the "meh" marauder. with 2x ambit IIs the varg was pretty passable. the proj change pretty much puts the varg to almost the best marauder status (if it wasn't for all the falloff I'd be damn tempted to call it the best).
although I guess the kronos has pretty much always been the pvp marauder (oh man nasty with blasters)
and imo the kronos is the best gallente lv4 ship. it is easier to fit than the domi, and gets more cap stable, or can fit a heavy injector. also it can fit an ab. isn't very far behind the domi in dps, and gets 40km tractors + optional salvager(s). the 51km optimal on the 425s is awesome too.
I think the domi's damage is too split, I mean I want to put 3 mag stabs, 3 drone tracking links, a drone link augmentor, and some tracking comps for the guns. and fitting is too tight to be considered super awesome at pve. plus, limited damage types.

tbh, missions = caldari ships.
However, (as said above) if you dont want to train for the dredded caldari, get a gila. they outperform a ishtar
