I have heard its the nightmare, its related skills are amarr/caldari which might be good line of skills for pvp, it has spare slots for tractor beam + salvager.
pvp ships with related skills are blackbird ecm boats, arbitrator drone boat, maller awesome tank & laser boat, osprey/augorer repair shields and armor.... and these ships are even better in the t2 form for pvp.
Some might say Dominix is way to go, or raven though. and either one of those would be valid choices as well, depends on your play style and which race ships you see yourself in the most for pvp.

you will have the skills to pvp before you will have the skills to run level 4s. go find a corp that supports newer players. look for good kill records, ship replacements, free ships, corp insurance, group missions, decent numbers, jump clone access. not likely to get all of the above, but should be able to get some assistance.
but for the advice you asked for:
nightmare is a fantastic pve ship, although it has a limitation of heavy em/therm damage, works awesome for missions where the enemies are em/therm weak. I love to use it vs Blood, sansha, mercs, drones, and EoM.
the Machariel is another awesome pve ship, fighting in falloff isn't my favorite thing to do, but it just gets so much it isn't really an issue, plus really good base dps. I'd use this for the other missions, Angels, Serpentis, Guristas. (sad that a minmatar (yea okay it is an angel ship, but like 99% minmatar + 20% awesome) based ship is best for guristas, lol railguns :s)
or you can be a bit more boring and get a CNR, works pretty awesome for every npc, but best at none. also probably one of the best ships to use with lower sp.

I us my nightmare for all missions. Melts thru the obvious npc's and burns thru guristas just fine as well. Angels are a little slower, but I hardly ever see em where I mission.
For the nightmare you need really good shield/gunnery skills and at least T2 drone skills to be successful.

In my opinion, the 2 entry level 4 mission runners are really the Dominix and Raven.
They are the generally regarded as easiest to skill for (Dominix the easiest out of everything).
Dominix can be fitted to have an extreme amount of tank if you are low-SP, but can also be modified to increase DPS and hence mission completion times as your skills and competence in Lvl4's increase. Drones are good for slow mission runners who like to AFK and not buy ammo.
Raven is a slightly more skill intensive ship, but generally complete missions faster with a reduced tank, so you need to manage aggro more effectively. Also leads into the CNR (Navy Issue Raven) which is one of the more effective mission running ships you can buy (without going over the top and spending 2+ Bil on a pirate faction ship) _____________________________

what is you race op? (showing up as new toon ! lol) . Might help pick a ship. If looking for pvp, easiest path is to get a train that kills both with one stone if not caldari (caldari learn missiles and guns to t2...and if really disenchanted learn new racial ships and lasers/projectile if not thrille with gallante lol).
Other races, unless you have a strong urge to be a stealth bomber pilot before a fleet bs...can learn t2 gun path day 1 no interruptions.

Edited by: Dusica on 03/05/2010 07:57:07 All four races have ultimate battleship aka marauder or t2 battleship . Most popular is caldary Golem followed by amarr and minmatar Paladin and Vargur and Cronos for galante. They are all great for mission running in high sec ( very expansive as well ).
Faction battleships are great. Most notably caldary navy Raven and Apocalipse navy issue are really great.
In normal battleships you have caldary Raven most popular battleship , amarr have Apocalipse and Abaddon , minmatar is Mealstrom and galente is Dominix.
Pick your race depending how you want to mission because they are all effective. Caldary are missile specialists and shield tanks , Amarr are lassers and armor tanks , Minmatar are projectiles with shield and tank mix of ships , and Galante are active tank and drones.
Generally if you want to get into battleship as fast as possible then galante dominix and caldary raven are very easy to train ( drones or missiles ) and make effective even with low skill points , amarr and minmatar usually require more skill points to be really effective but when they do get that they are really strong and fun to fly ( turrets are fun ^_^ ).

If you should end up having 2 accounts, I'd say go for the following:
main: gank-fitted Armageddon (cheap BS, easy to train for) Alt: remote-armorrepper fitted oneiros with rechargers in low and mid.
These ships, combined with missions that present short-range ships, like Amarr/Sansha missions, will nberpwn :) I experience that 90% of the battleship rats in my missions are within the optimal range of my Mega Pulse II's with Multifreq. crystals..that way, a mission will be over pretty quickly

The Nightmare is wickedly awesome for Amarr space missions. It makes a great alternative to the Paladin. (especially if you are lacking BS V, AWU V, or some other monstrous prereq for marauders.)
The same applies to the Macharial for Minmatar space missions.
Beyond those two ships, you can't go wrong with the marauders. The Golem is the most popular marauder for the same reasons the Raven is the most popular PVE battleship. Robust shield tank with the ability to switch ammo types at will.

geddon isn't a bad choice, good dps and cheap. but there are better options!
now for a logi alt... that just really isn't needed. I frown at even using a logi domi with 5x sentries and 2x sentry damage rigs. tbh if anything get a 2nd geddon, or tempest, or w/e. more dps = more money!
and wow I must be doing it wrong, as I swear most ships die 40-60km away from me.

I don't know what you're doing wrong m8 - if you're flying Amarr missions, most of the BS rats should be closer than that...I usually pick off the closest ones first, letting the rest get closer.
Of course there are rats that stay farther away, but not the majority..

Edited by: churrros on 05/05/2010 08:23:51 I say if you want to get into pvp quickly go minmatar, altho they suck at missions, they offer great ships in all classes for pvp.
And you can fit and fly 30 rifters that are pretty effective and cheap(join FW and loot a tech 2 drone and thats 5 rifters for you) with very low sp.
