I have watched some snipets of this The Big Bang Theory on youtube that is supposedly about geeks and nerds, especially physics students/phd's and to be quite frank, all I found was a couple of obnoxious idiots acting nothing like RL sience students (I am one, I should know) and even more obnoxious laugh tracks.
I even like "no heroes" shows, I like "The Young Ones", for example, and I like dysfuncitonality, but this **** is worse than HIMYM (a show I also had recommended to me and dropped after one episode like a hot, rotten coal)
What am I missing?

The fact that the targeted audience won't know the difference between a crappy premise for a show and the real thing. It has nerds who seem to talk smart and a big boob ditzy blond so between the technobabble and bouncy rack they are well satisfied viewers. Typical formulatic sitcom tbh and one of the reasons I don't bother watching 'prime time' tv anymoar.

Thats is probably the issue, watching some snippets does not really give enough to know if a show is any good. I saw the adverts for the Big Bang Theory when it came over to the UK and it looked ****. Caught the end of an episode and it still looked **** but then caught another episode from the start and watched it (too lazy to turn over channel and nothing else was on), thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters all have their own quirks and although it is not realistic so what, most TV shows aren't realistic but they can still be enjoyable.
