Yeah, homeworld style color choice sounds great and something I had in mind as idea too. And yes, attaching it to the cached data of the player's portrait sounds nice too but what if the player chooses to re-paint his ship ?

Have to admit the homeworld idea for eve is a good idea, like someone said if corps had a colour setup team members could copy so everyone knows their colours, could get intersting pirating as well with someone copying a corp colour who isn't really in the corp

Corp Logo.. the corp logo on my shipp.. and maby even the shipp name, printed on the side of it..where "blank" is an option aswell.. say like "Fogy's Raven" = blank... "raven of doom" would show...
some thing close to that anyways.
and maby even corporate shipp theme.. like the ceo makes the corp tag.. he can also do a shipp theeme for all corporation members shipps.

Love the idea of Corp's color and corp's logo on ship when it's build by the corporation & assurance by the corp

Firstly, i dont know much about the technical side of things, so what i suggest may or may not be possible without creating lag or whatever, but you should get the name of your ship displayed on the ships hull, just like real ships. The idea of having a homeworld style colour scheme is good, but i personally like the fab colour schemes ccp has already created for the ships. I mean ships like the megathron and the cormorant have really cool textures, and seeing pink megathrons with green stripes on it would look somewhat out of context. Just adding the ship name and corp logo would add that personal touch that we so badly want!

Ooh super thread necroing!
Anyways, the developers have mentioned that they are able to something or other unique that is only triggered by the "look at" mode. Hence, they might be able to do it without necessarilly increasing data transfer in a significant way.
