Damn, that was a good idea... Shame it isn't possible!
As for optional PvP, well it shouldn't always be optional personally I'm not a lover of pirates but a substantive part of the excitment in Eve is the unknown, i.e. Are there going to be pirates or friendlies in the next system? Are those pirates in local all going to be sat around the gate I'm jumping to?
It's all about balance, it's nice to have somewhere to run, but knowing that you're always going to be safe is boring... Even for carebears (whether they'll admit that or not is another matter).

Fully optional pvp is something ccp has always stated they will NEVER introduce in the game. Just like sharding and instancing thse mechanics ae for games like EQ, not a niche game like Eve. If CCP had wanted Eve mainstream they'd have started with much less pvp from the beginning.
So, hence complaxes aren't instanced, even 1.0 is not safe, ore thieves are allowed and pos can be killed.
Altho it would make sense for ccp to make taking down a pos just a tad more easy. Currently it's not worth attacking one because of inevitable great losses incurred when doing so. _______________________________________________

Edited by: ahnik on 06/12/2004 18:15:36 well POS just reflects the owner's corp wealth, and aren't profitable if not in a bigger chain. Just make the targeted corp lose enough to have other priorities (like mining to replace ship losses) than fuel the pos. (BTW keeping defenses online all the time cost more then having it offline) ie : more defences, more fuel needed.
