So there i was sat shooting at a POS last night not getting anywhere fast when i thought to myself i need bigger guns...but whats bigger than 425 rails? i hear you ask...why sentries of course!........this POS i was shooting at (gallente) had a sentry range of 225 km...right well amarr POS have 50% sentry range bonus, so my question is if you put your amarr POS, which has a larger range, outside of the gallente POS sentry range would your amarr POS shoot at the other one? or does it just shoot at players? an interesting question i think....

Edited by: Abomination on 04/12/2004 23:50:38 if you could do that then ppl could setup temporary pos for that purpose with loads of sentries and no defense.

FFs there must be some way other than having 100's of ships to take down a POS. Surely CCP arent that stupid as to make a carebear item so indistructable. People will start thinking CCP lean unfaily towards miners and do bugger all for pirates.........actually theresa point.

The only way to beat pos atm is to starve then they need lots of energy,
but that does mean camping the gates and belt for 12hours to 8 days lol

CCP wanted to make them overpowered at first rather than underpowered. I'm sure they'll be nerfed soon enough.

Starving them is probably unworkable too as the pos owners can have logged out haulers filled with fuel and sec cans sprinkled throughout a system. The haulers would only ever be at 2 places. In a safe spot for a very short amount of time(not long enough to find with probes) or within the protection of the pos. Otherwise they are logged. Months worth of fuel and ammo can be stored like this making starving them next to impossible if the pos owners are organized and dedicated.
The pos can be defended this way from massive fleets without a single warship being fielded.
Only good way to take a pos is to do it while its being built. Or having a very good spy with access who can empty the pos of fuel. *evil grin ______________

Maybe players aren't meant to be able to drive each other out of the game.
Maybe they're meant to just do their job and be good at it.
POS doesn't keep you from pirating others, just gives those ppl a place to fallback, lick their wounds and rebuild.
What kind of a video game do you have with no sanctuary? Eventually there would be only a few dominant clubs, and everyone else would just be driven from the game.

I agree. If they werent super powerfull large corps or alliances would just fly around popping all the POSs. And smaller corps wouldnt have a chanse to keep a POS.

It's called 0.5+ ====
You can rob ppl in 0.5+ too.
In Eve there is never TOTAL security, therefor there should not be a total LACK of security.
Besides, what do you expect CCP to do, have %80 of the playerbase mining Veld in Yulai while vast deposits go untouched in deep space?
It's clear that MOST players want OPTIONAL PvP, meaning you can choose to avoid risk, while allowing yourself risk when you think you can afford to lose your ship. That way everyone gets to PvP without being driven out of the game.
POS is just a means to that end, pushing ppl out of empire by giving them pockets of security, so more people get out of empire, and make room for more subscribers.
