Banker since 1983. My background is strictly asset management related for a super regional bank in the US. I enjoyed PVE when the game began but moved on to only pvp; I generally avoid anything to due with Finance in game other than giving in game strategy advice to friends. Not an EVE isk player rather I play for the social aspect and team building related to pvp. I have enough of an economic, market strategy, compliance life at work.
My sandbox is point and shot, operate as "project leader"= FC, alliance political avoidance as much as possible.

I'm 46, been playing EvE with one toon or another for about 3 years.
I've been playing the "penny stock" markets in North America for over 25 years. Diamond exploration in Canada, "Hi-tech" booms, and the various longshot "dark horse" start-ups that payoff big on those rare occassions they hit gold, oil, whatever.
I'd be happy to chat concerning the topic of "rags to riches" opportunities that the EvE Marketplace frequently duplicates.

I'm a Director of a once mighty and successful working bank, was there on the day it was incarnated, and still am even though it's become 60% insolvent. The bank held the largest sum of known moneys in the known universe until it was discovered the CEO and a majority of the rest of the Directors where stealing and defrauding the system.
This bank issued loans, played the stock market, manipulated the public markets, issued venture capital to individuals. But all this didn't happen in Real Life, it happened in right here in EVE.
What I don't understand is EVE's rules are so different then real life, those that attempt real life functions often fail or have to make enough concessions in EVE to make it work, they are often slated for failure before they start, or have loop holes which enable them to fail. I can only assume that the interview would be about the differences between EVE and Real Life, but most of the smart people who, as someone said "Silently" make ISK in the background are not going to reveal their secrets.
Although Hexxx is not financially successful in game, he laid a lot of the ground work the Market Discussion forum use to this day about creating IPOs, Bonds, and even banks. The ground work for EBANK wasn't what failed the bank, dirty CEO's and Directors stealing did, it only speed up when those CEO's and Directors where fudging the numbers on reports. The bank's backbone which was designed by Hexxx wasn't what failed.
Hexxx does hold a financially minded position in Real Life as well. I've let him know about this thread because I know for a fact he would love to do an interview like this.

I have lectured and taught as a member of the faculty of the Kelly School of Business, at Indiana University, Bloomington -- the same university that Edward Castronova works at. I believe Dr. E has one of his books. =)
I trade stocks and options and I am familiar with the concept of derivatives (CDO's, call/put options, etc) as well as ETF's and futures contracts. I have also written my own call option contracts.

I think one of the fundamental problems in eve is lack of capital transmission mechanism from those who have available capital to those who need it.
And everything else stems from here, lack of stock market, lack of proper banking system etc.
If only we could introduce reliable mechanism of transmission of capital that will revitilize the system greatly.

One of the 3 or so active auditors, basically revisiting a RL job into the (way less secure) EvE mechanics. This is quite of a sensible topic, RL finance cannot be directly translated in EvE since the foundations are so different.

Look no further. Hexxx is the one you really need to invite over. His in/out of game credential is pretty solid, and he can talk financial.
AFAIK, he is one of the guys who has shaped the nature of "Market Discussion" section of E-O forum. Just go to EVEPEDIA and Market resources is full of his writing. I mean, what evidence would you need more?
Plus, he has in-game fame, and his presence in the press interview would definitely provide EVE users an opportunity to preach how cool EVE is to potential customers.
Just talk to him. You won't regret it. |

Hmm,
Not a banker but have been in finance since 2002 after graduating college. I was an equity proprietary trader for a few years and then went into the solar industry at my friend's company where I managed his SREC inventory, which are tradable renewable attributes, aside from handling other finance related matters. We still do business together, mainly originating and developing solar projects.
Current I work as a trader for a global macro hedge fund and am launching my own venture into renewable attributes. So aside from being willing to give an interview, I would not mind getting in touch with some other finance oriented professionals, venture capitalist or angel investors for RL business.

Not a Banker/any kinda guy...
But I AM a -very- skilled PR type. I've sold a class of ship to the Indian Navy, Briefed Generals and Admirals and Under-Secretaries (US) on a ship, and hosted an MTV Show (Granted, it was Rob and Big, and meh, but eff you, I'VE BEEN ON MTV!)
And I did all of this while the ship was (is) barely functional! Selling bubblegum in the lock-jaw ward of a hospital. :P
If you guys are seriously interested, I'm out of the US Navy in 30-someodd days, so I'll have a LOT of freetime soon. And I know you CCP-types can access my account email, as I rarely get to log on these days. (Cap Ships 5 training anyone...)

I worked in NYC at a very prestigious Wall Street law firm (i.e. top 10 in the world) doing high profile corporate litigation - mostly securities, M&A deals gone sour, takeovers, and international disputes including representing sovereigns.

I've got 13 years in finance, specifically equipment/technology finance. Building, managing technology and captive IT equipment financing programs. A fan of economics, I also spent a good deal of time writing a blog for another major MMO and it's economy garnering more than 1,000,000 unique visitors a month. I shut that down the 2 days after I started playing Eve I was so enthralled with the Eve Economy.

I am afraid some of them are unavailable at this time, but I guess Einarsson is available for the time being. And seeing CCP have an office in London it could actually work! For the rest of them, I guess ccp could bail em out!
