HI,
Any tips for getting my hands on Megacyte for manufacturing purposes?
I have taken a look at the ore maps and can see that the relevant roids grow in some of the out of the way systems, obviously I dont want to take a hulk down there, should I nip in and out in a cruiser with small amounts?
Any stealth miners got any tips?

I would get a small group of miners together. Have a stealth ship head out to a 0.0 system with lots of ABC ore or find a grav site. Then drop a cyno and jump in a rorqual. Jump clone the team in a get into hulks in the rorqual. Mine as much as the Rorqual can hold, then jump out.
Other than that, buy it on the market.

1) Mine Scordite or your local ore of choice with the highest isk/m3 value.
2) Refine and sell the minerals.
3) Buy megacyte.
Works the same way for zydrine and mercoxit. ---

Set up your buy orders to cover systems with lots of mission runners in em. They like to refine crummy loot and sell their megacyte to you for cheap (hopefully)

That'll be all. ________________________

Or even easier; sell a bunch of PLEXes, and buy Mega off the market.

Edited by: mxzf on 06/05/2010 16:42:44 You really can't try to ninja-mine in 0.0 without expecting to die, trust me, it just won't work (in my second week of Eve I decided to try running down to 0.0 to try mining with a Destroyer and I managed to get a whole four jumps in before I got killed, I learned later that I didn't do too bad all things considered, lol).
If you really want Mega then you have three real options (in order of my reccomendation):
1. Simply mine lesser ores and buy the Mega that you need (not very appetizing to a dedicated miner, but the only way to get any real amount without risking serious PvP (you can get a bit from mission loot refining, but it's units, not the thousands of units you will want))
2. Scan down a wormhole and do a ninja mining op there (my personal favorite, I've been running corp ops for months to WH systems and you get plenty of Mega there, you just have to be able to watch your back because there's really no law there at all (also, always keep a probing ship in the WH with you and never use an Orca, they pop WHs fast))
3. Join a sov-holding 0.0 alliance (unless you really want to get into 0.0 and the politics therof, this is not something I'd reccomend (though it can be the next safest way of procurement behind simply buying it if you are in a well defended system))

In rough order of "easiest" to "hardest": * assuming you have enough ISK and there's some on the market, just buy it already * assuming you have enough ISK but there's not much on the market, buy items that contain a lot of it and melt them down * assuming you don't have enough ISK, make some ISK in whatever way you see fit, then restart at the top of the list * run L4 missions, collect loot, melt it down (will no longer be a good option from May 18th 2010) * if you don't have any ISK and don't want to get ISK in some other way, start exploring for a wormhole opening nearby to wildspace, and mine the high-end ores you'll find exploring inside the w-space system past the wormhole * if you don't want to do any of the above things, set sail for the drone regions and start killing NPC drones, collect the alloys, melt them * go to a 0.0 system and mine there, hope you survive ; you might want to join the local alliance * go to a 0.0 system and run anomalies and kill belt rats, collect loot, melt it (might not be a great option after May 18th 2010) * try to intercept a fat load of it when some miners bring their minerals in from 0.0 through lowsec to highsec, gank it, take it
You should notice how actually MINING in order to obtain the mineral in question was not anywhere near the top of that list, and it didn't feature all that often in it either.

Akita hates mining. I love miners. It's like having your own personal slaves even if slavery was abolished _

Because most T1 mission loot (the one most minerals come from right now) will be either removed or replaced by tags and other stuff not mineral-rich in the loot tables.

Does this mean collecting the tags needed to finish those... ugh forgot what they are called, I'll go with CORE because it's wrong... missions will actually be doable because the drop rate will be reasonable? In a way that is pretty darn awesome.

Meta 0 loot specifically. The devblog states that meta 1-4 will still be dropped.
I only correct you because people around here treat you as some kind of demigod, and once you have said it ("technetium" lol) it becomes gospel truth.
T1 meta 0 loot is being removed, the rest is staying, and the expansion is coming "soon", not May 18.

Meh, my shorthand goes "meta 0 = T1 ; meta 1-4 = named ; meta 5 = T2" etc
