Hey guys,
I've been going through the vaults this week looking for some awesome Alliance Tournament matches from years past.
My hands down best match of awesomeness is this. BoB Vs Star Fraction AT4. Though we can all agree the match was great, I just love the commentary.
But I want to know from you guys, what is your favorite match of all time? It can either be a great fight, or an awesome commentary.
Link the best here!

cant remember the matchup, but last year there was very close fight, where the last tengu (as far as i remember) killed 3 or 4 hostile ships and won :) was really exciting comeback, after losing all ships except 1 tengu in first 2 mins by one team :)

Can't find a link but HUN vs BoB, where they used the Thorax's. The amount of sheer face **** involved had me laughing. Hotly followed by a commentator complaining about ECM drones being overpowered.

Not sure about best, but one of the few ones that stick in my memory over the years is the one where AAA tried to win a fight by bringing super tanked remote repping Rokhs with zero dps potential, and right enough the enemy team couldn't break their tanks, but they were just a super tank with no ability to damage the enemy team.
Every one was getting a little emotional at the frankly boring tactics displayed and then the eve god answered everyones prayers and one of the Rokhs crashed.
Could smell the AAA tears right the way across the internet. ______________________________

Got to be this one. IIRC that was the 'unbeatable' set-up that got trashed by T1 Cruisers. -------------------------------------------------- Civil Disobedience is still Disobedience The most damage is done by those that know how and not why |

That was Star Fraction vs BoB and is probably the most talked about AT match of all time.

You're thinking of Eve Online - AT7 Day 4 - Laconian Syndicate Vs The Important Internet Spaceship League
That's one of my favs too, but I like the fight from the same alliance tourney wherein three MWD Dominixes popped out sentries and MWD'd across the field right on top of the enemy, abandoned their sentries and popped out Ogre 2s and laid down the pain. Unfortunately I don't have the link for that! Anyone remember that fight and have a link?
Of course when BoB got owned by thoraxes it was great! The long-standing alliance tourney rulers got smacked down in what could only be a foreshadow of the demise of the in-game alliance.

I can't remember when and where the hero vigil one was.
There was also a hero tanking curse in the semifinals of AT 6 that was great. Anyone got the link to that ?

AT4 was an incredible tourney, and produced a lot of awesome stuff but can anyone remember anything great from further back? The first few tourneys for example?
We must still have some AT2 and AT3 tourney pilots who read these forums

The first ones wasn't very fun because it was all locked up in which alliance had the best tank setup - and setups was very restricted like you had to bring 1 frig, 1 destroyer, 1 cruiser, 1 BC, 1 BS etc etc
Btw that Tengu fight mentioned is now linked at least 2-3 times hehe -

Hmm, i'm not sure that would be from AT7 though Raquel, because it would break the "2 of a ship type only" rule. I do remember seeing Cry Havoc. do that in the AT5 qualifiers to Ethereal Dawn though, with Guardian support, and carried on with that setup until they lost in the semi finals that year, it was pretty unexpected. Not sure if that's what you're thinking of.
Having said that, that happens to be one of my favourite fights because although we lost, i was proud that in our first tournament the studio commentators all picked ED to win that fight and made me feel proud that we atleast made a small impression on the EVE community and a name for ED. Also CH were new that year too, so it was nice to see we were knocked out by the better team.
Like most people have already said, AT4's BoB vs Star Fraction and AT7's Laconian Syndicate vs Important Internet Spaceship League were fantastic matches. I suppose it's a little biased, but i'm also quite fond of AT7 Day 2 - Important Internet Spaceship League vs Ethereal Dawn mainly because it was closely contested and SirFett had me on the edge of a cardiac arrest when he was around 1% structure and repped himself back up while telling me he'd burnt out his guns. We wouldn't have won had he not been able to hang on!

Edited by: Angel HUN on 07/05/2010 14:30:44 I cannot seem to find it at the moment, but the COW vs IAC match where the Imperial Apoc exploded with glory was probably one of my favorite moments of all the alliance tournaments. Especially enjoyable was the fact that COW attempted to ransom Tyrrax, that really struck a harmonious chord in my pirate heart.
For the "Old Timers", I'm pretty sure it was AT3 (?) Where it came down to a 1vs1 in Crows and Gunstar from BOB ended up on top... That was a real nail biter. (Once again, I cannot find the video).

Totally unbiased opinion: IAC vs. CoW in AT4, where tyrrax lost his Impoc to my awesome team.
also: Megathron vs. Ishkur in AT4(or was it AT3?), where Ishkur is slowly killing the mega and then flies out of the arena and gets nuked by Lemonde /o\
Hero Nighthawk vs. Abaddon in AT6(Goodfellas vs. someone I think)
Tengu vs. 2x Proteus in AT7(already mentioned and linked)
BOB vs. IAC(bob spanking IAC 3v4 after their logistics pilot CTD's before the match start)
BOB vs. ASCN(possibly the most boring tournament final to date, resulting in a loltastic crow 1v1 to decide the match outcome)

that one is from very early in AT7 when goons surprised by bringing an extremely badass setup featuring 2 torp golems and 2 nightmares. surprised a lot of us and gave us a cool peek at how exciting this tournament was going to be.
The other which i won't forget (even though i cant remember who it was) was a match where some guy in a vigil was running around the area for ever at the end of the match and eventually crovan offered him isk to self destruct, which i offered to match. The messege got to the pilot and sure enough he blew himself up.
After the tournament we found out he had some success selling trademark vigil's with his fit from the tournament to fans across eve!

Been mentioned a few times already - it was BDEAL vs. Laconian Syndicate.
ookke, i think the Nighthawk vs. Abaddon (and Taranis?) was Goodfellas vs. Dead Terrorists but i'm not sure as the AT6 vids are still down. The commentary in that fight was also quite fun - i liked Eddz and Verone as experts tbh.

Edited by: QwaarJet on 07/05/2010 15:49:19 Kind of difficult to answer, due to lack of links for earlier tournaments.
From Tourney 2 I would say BoB vs IAC in the semis, with BoB losing their Scimi but still winning.
Tourney 4 was the best of the lot, so many good matches, but a personally proud moment was the MM VS Aftermath match which resulted us being at the wrong range, unable to shoot the spamming Caracals, but we kept our silly little Maulus alive for as long as possible, edged towards them and webbed them with our Rapier (we only had 1 web) and torp spammed them with our Raven.
The outcome of that match was that we won by virtue of killing 2 Caracals whereas the other team killed 5 Maulus. It was an incredible proud moment for all of us to come back like that.
I'm really annoyed I can't find that match anywhere.
I won't bother with matches from the last couple of tournaments, as I'm sure many others will bring that up.

I'm probably biased though as I was there..
The final of AT1, BOB vs (no idea)
ended up with diemos vs eagle, eagle won due to crystal pwnage. but was epic.

That AT7 goon match was great to watch, though being my first day commentating I was a bit "green" so apologies for that
The Hero Vigil Laser Tag match you remember was during AT6 - "Agony Empire vs Evoke". The Vigil pilot was Ash Vincetti and he did sell a few limited edition Vigils in Jita afterwards .
My favourite match from AT6 was actually "Manifest Destiny vs Agony Empire" because until then people had written off teams using Mauraders We made a 4 golem, 6 ishkur setup work very well (and I got to fly one of the golems on my alt ).
The main memory I have of AT5 was certain now CCP employees and their fine scarves
