This just seems like CCPs way of getting everybody used to the DTs that will appear after Tyrannis is deployed.

Db issues are nothing new, we've had them since I joined early last year.
Now if only a little bell would ring and somewhere a sign would pop up that sort of gave a guiding hand to CCP that they should be fixing existing problems before releasing new updates, then the world would be fine.

Originally by: Archuthas I personally think that CCP has done a great job of keep Tranquility up and running over the years.
yea, its just a pity that they cant fix the problems which have been going on for months, BEFORE releasing new content.

Originally by: xS LorD Dear players, Tranquility is down due to database issues, we need to extend the downtime until 18:00 GMT / UTC. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for the skill queue. Everyone who had a skill train end during this unexpected extended downtime thanks you.
Please spend more time improving/fixing EVE and less on adding new features/content.
Cyxopyc
and those whose skill queue completed during this DT will probably lynch you from the nearest tree.

Originally by: LOOKACYNO You know, it's not so hard to add more skills before downtime. If you always kept your skill queue 100% full, this wouldn't be an issue. I know it's hard to comprehend, but a little foresight goes a long way these days. A full skill queue means that you'd survive (at the bare minimum) 24 hours of unplanned downtime easy. It's your own fault if you don't utilize the tools that CCP has so graciously given you.
Okay, lets see if in your infinite wisdom you can work this one out.....
- I log out and I have 1 day 3 hours training in the queue.
- The next time I log in (which was 1 day later).....oh, hang on, I cant log in because Eve is down.
.....could you enlighten me as to how I could cure this oh mighty one?

Originally by: Obsidian Hawk Whats so funny? its 12:33pm here I get off work in 5 hours, then i have a 40 min drive home because of traffic so nearly 6 hours, plus 1 hour at the gym so 7 hours. Yeah EvE will be up by then.
But if not, im glad i have my skill queue full.
I certainly wouldnt like to put money on Eve being up in 7 hours.

Originally by: CavScorpion I'm not really a computer guy so please don't flame me here for lack of knowledge if this is impossible/implausible...
If at D/T every day they make a backup before making changes - why wouldn't they roll back to that and let it run on that DB whilst they worked on whatever problem they caused AFTER the backup during D/T
Bearing in mind no one would be losing anything as the damn thing crashed pretty much immediately after D?T anyway so no one could really have accomplished masses in that short window?
I think the point that your missing is that CCP are claiming that the problem is database related. It could be anything from someone unplugging the damn thing to something deciding it doesnt like fridays and frying itself.
