I reilize this may be alot to ask for but without out a active leveling system we can not hope to have new players as often after all who would want to play a game were no matter what you do you will be left miles behind someone who started months earlyer then you my idea keep the current system but make some way of active leveling

This was brought up after the ore redistribution a month or so ago - those lucky enough to have mined arkonor on day one tend to be those who are lightyears ahead of players who only signed up about 3 weeks later than they.

Another reason we need active leveling is so we don't need to spend endless days waiting for a skill to level up. just a thought

That is the WHOLE reason for the real time skill training. NOT TO BE AN EXPERIENCE CRUNCH.
go play EnB. Then you can max out your skills in a few weeks. **I'm a flower, watch me blossom... and kill** |

no, No, NO, NO! Oh and did I mention No? Please for the love of god don't turn this game into another EQ levelling treadmill.

Nah active leveling doesn't make sense in this game. The reason you don't need experience points to level is that theres more to the game than fighting pirates. Not everyone does the same thing for a living in Eve, you need to award everyone for what they do and seeing in how experience would be impossible to regulate between so many tasks (mining, building, fighting, trading, researching, etc).
I'm glad to see a game where you can advance by not having to get xp by killing monsters.

By the way, there is active training of skills now. Certain skills gain SPs (somewhat slowly) when they are used. For example, you get SPs in Afterburner skill when you activate them. You only get this benefit once per gate/dock to make it more difficult to macro them.
To see this in action, log in, note your SPs in AB, go out and activate them, the re-login (I don't think the character sheet keeps up with updates from active training). You'll see your SPs in AB have increased.

AMEN. As a former DAoC player: NO to active leveling. Escaping the leveling treadmill is one reason I'm playing this game and not playing with my well-established L50 caster + L40 (and rapidly rising) buffbot.
Anyway, your abilities in this game are determined more by your equipment than your skills. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

NO LEVELLING! PLEASE GOD do NOT BRING THAT to EVE.
The lack of a levels based system like Eversuck is one of the chief reasons I like EVE.

Guler, if you really want the playing field evened out, the way to do it is NOT to suggest taking one of the best things about this game away and turning it into a clone of the stupid, idiotic "look ma I use a bot/macro to power level my character" games. The system EVE has now is VASTLY better than that.
If your concern is that people who started earlier have it easier because of things like "being able to strip mine ridiculously valuable ores early on", well, since that problem has been fixed the real solution is to ask for a Player Wipe and make everyone start over. THAT, at least, would be attacking the actual problem.
I doubt you'll have much success in convincing anyone that is a good idea though.
