Actually, I get complemented at work when I do good work. Its called employment management and rises the morale among coworkers. If you never get complemented for the work you do its easy to feel that the leadership dont care about you and your work, or in this case: the game! So maybe my employer pays my salary (as we pay CCP subscription) but giving complements helps on the morale for everyone involved and is free to give! So if you want a good game you give CCP complements for a well done job and constructive critizism if you feel something could be done or handled differently. That way everyone in the end will be happy!

So yeah, CCP has some silly stuff in their game like learning skills, broken missiles, zoom problems, laggies, and yucky territory control war (more on the last two as soon as I get done drawing some charts and doing more research). But they do care about the Big T being online and were nice enough to keep us updated while lots of people were being grumpy on the forum.
I think you should thank them because they actually try to give you good customer service or open like three more accounts that you never log into so that they get monies from you for not much expense. . Support EVE's future: Vote Cat o'Ninetails for CSM! |

Motivation is not your employers strong point then
I agree every day is silly but really most game companies get nothing but grief all the time, usually from idiots to be honest. It's good to praise them sometimes. What gets me is moaners never post that they are wrong about something, its one thing I hate about the internet, people should be held to what they say if they are proved wrong about something they are spouting off about. But they never are and they blithely go around spouting discord as if they are experts.

I just lost the game.
But I agree with this. There is also a difference between doing what you are paid to do and going above and beyond what is required because of your passion for your creation, the game and the community. Getting positive and constructive feedback on your work is very important. There isn't much that can top the feeling you get when thousands of players are enjoying a feature you have been working on like a mad man for the past months.
So keep it coming!

If I didn't love the game, I wouldn't be here with you. Love can sometimes be hard, it can be disappointment as well. Sometimes things don't go as planned. Please don't leave me wanting...

Wholeheartedly agree.
Started playing EVE 4 years ago, loved the game then, still loving it now. Since then I have not found any game that gives me as much enjoyment, which is why EVE is currently the only game I consider worth paying for.
It's in the nature of forums that you (CCP) will come under a lot of flak, be it deserved or not. Never doubt for a moment however that there are many of us out there that love the game, and are grateful for the hard work that makes EVE so enjoyable. Thank you CCP.

From the perspective of someone who enjoys creating spreadsheet designs for the industrial side of eve online, I can safely say that when something is working I get a lot fewer thread replies per download than if something is obviously broken.
While obviously I don't do it because I get paid to do it, or even requested to do it, but it does warm the ego when I receive praise in the form of a forum post, in some cases it's better than an anonymous donation of Isk.
For the lost holidays, the tears, blood and sweat that each line of code/report/pixel/graph has resulted in - Thank You.

Just popping in here to give props to CCP. Sure, a database failure isn't the best birthday present for CCP, but that's technology :P
Seriously though, CCPs dedication goes above and beyond the call of duty. CCP just seems so above and beyond any other MMO team out there. I've had my account 5 years and put thousands of hours into this alternate universe, and I'll be subbing for as long as the game runs in no small part because of CCPs fanatical devotion to their original vision and totally unique aspects like free expansions every 6 months.
The addition of WH space really proved to me that CCP has what it takes to keep the universe expanding in new directions, and who can deny the fun of some Sim City with planetary interaction!

I got a "two thumbs up" and a handshake from a customer on Thursday. And after that the boss sent a "thank you" mail to the whole team.

I hate you so much right now, is there a written rule that says we shan't insult CCP employees?

Couldn't find a specific one. However....
4. Be respectful of others at all times. The purpose of the forum is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas. Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Be courteous when disagreeing with others. It is possible to disagree without being insulting.
And..
5. Personal attacks are prohibited. Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit and will not be tolerated. Corporation, faction and alliance members and other players are cautioned to avoid allowing ôin characterö disputes from becoming "out of character" personal attacks. The game is designed for role-playing and/or portraying a role and it is sometimes easy for tempers to flare when the lines between the virtual world and the real world are crossed. Please keep in-game disputes in the game and off the forum unless it is clearly a mutual, in-character exchange.
...Might cover it.
Bear in mind the interpretation and enforcement of these rules is at the discretion of those being insulted, warned you have been.
