well, i had a dream about it actually. I woke up, and i though the dream was really realistic. So i went and bought a space shuttle from NASA, and then flew into space. But as i got into space i realised that i forgot the petrol, and so i flew back and went to a petrol station, and a seconds later when my tank was full i launched again!! From then, i searched for 40 days and 40 nights for the EVE gate, without eating or drinking or sleeping... or walking. Although there were brief discomforts, i think it was a positive experience that will reflect on my charachter in later life. I also hope to live to be 100 years old give or take a day. Anyway, back on subject, after 40 days and 40 nights, i still hadnt found it. I started to head back to earth, where i prepared a speech to say to my family. Something like "We will fight on the hills, we will fight on the streets, we will never surrender!" But suddenly a big big UFO came along and after a brief conversation i bribed the aliens with ú49.36 to show me where the EVE gate is and they showed me and here i am. Any questions?

When did I "discover" EVE? Wow... that was a really long time ago....don't really remember when. pre-millenium definately, so I could say "last century"
But seriously....if I can:
Ran across the EVE site on accident, that was newly after the site was started as there wasn't much content
Followed the site for a couple of weeks then to my amazement I discovered that CCP was an Icelandic company (I'm Icelandic, small community so we're a bit nationalisticly proud ) so that increased my interest considerably.....Frequented the forums, drooled over what those guy's who where getting into alpha where letting slip.....then applied for beta and got in at phase 3 or 4....rested for a month after Beta and then got busy playing EVE....
So that was about 1999-2000 that I actually found out 'bout EVE then, I guess...or 1998?

I played Freelancer (wich is still a pretty cool game btw) and after finishing that, I was looking for some kind of similar space game. So I google'd and found Eve in Beta and joined =]

From the developer of another MMOPG.
I was having an argument with him on their forums about how allowing 1 team to hugely outnumber another in a war MMOPG with no populating balancing was a bad idea, especially with no indicator that of what % of the population each side had.
He mentioned that no other MMOPG displayed population data apart from planetside and Eve, so I checked out Eve and here I am.

Edited by: Vistilantus on 05/12/2004 11:10:16 i was heavily into a mud called "Legends of Cosrin" a freind i had in game told me he heard of this awesome game that was sorta based around Elite.
Being a bit of an elite series fanboi, i decided to come over and check it out. I signed up for beta and got accepted in beta 6. Struggled to learn the ropes and went back to my MUD when eve was released.
Got sick of changes in the MUD and came to play the 14 day trial of eve in January 2004. been hooked ever since :)

I came in about a week after official US release. I don't even remember the character's name, some Gallente loser. I played for about a week, and found an extremely promising game beset by massive bugs that seemed to always target me in particular, keeping me from much any forward progress. I uninstalled EVE, and left it in my "Try when you have time" stack of games.....
Fast forward to about 6 months ago, I was deployed to Japan, and new American games only got shipped in every two months. Japan does not have a strong PC game market, consoles rule all. One day, after realizing I was burnt out on nearly every PC game I owned, I spotted the EVE disk......
Where it's gone since then...well....let's just say a huge chunk of my IRL friends play, and every person who lives in my house (roommates) all have accounts. EVE addiction has taken a rather strong hold and never let go.

NeonDevil of Nova Divine (Homeworld) and NeonDevil's Eve Topsite List introduced me to Eve back in January of 2000. I joined up on the snitz forums Eve used way back then. I think I joined up as celticking3, the very first gaming name I ever used.
I was just getting into Homeworld at that time but I would drop by and read the forums and watch the drama queens and kings role playing their fantasies out with tons of fan sites and corp sites.
I had ties with the core Evolution guys and I would hang out during alpha and beta in their sekrit channel on irc and read cool stuff that was going on. But that got boring because I had no action.
I never got into closed beta but when it opened up publicly I got some time to practice but had lost contact with the TOASP guys. So, I created an uber builder/miner character which I could make tons of isk with. But my corp I started with fell apart and I almost quit eve because I was so bored.
But then I talked to a guy in evol and he got me squeezed in when it was very, very hard to get in. And on top of that, there was a guy in my Homeworld clan that was the internets biggist jack ass that did some questionable activities towards some of the core of Evolution, but they gave me a shot. Shout out to my boyz Homo and Bansh!
My miner/builder turned into a pvper of sorts. I would of created my character differently if I had guidance of these guys into what the future for me would be like as a pvper and not a carebear. (Which I am at times if you consider mining carebearish) But then, I would of been coerced into being Amarr. :p Shamrock

i got a 3 day trial disc with january's pcgamer (uk). i read the review and i was very impressed, i contemplated installing it but my friend warned me that it would steal my soul, i didn't install it. 4 months later i got ****ed off with the Natural Selection community, (lack of a decent) clanscene and the game itself. i uninstalled steam, i turned to my left.. something glimmered next to me.. mesmerized, i put the shiny, glimmering thing into my disc drive and installed it. i played out the 3 days on the disc.. craving more i signed up for the 14 day trial.. and then i subscribed. i haven't seen my soul since :( (not that i'm complaining) ----- ----- -----
