I think that particular definition of 'Pride and Honour' died in Eve when someone dared for the first time to state (and do) the obvious -- that choosing not to fight against stupid odds when it only means losing your ships and not much else... is a smart thing to do. And when people agreed and followed the suit.
Same principle, really.
(and the more high profile people abuses the current system in this way, the bigger incentive for the devs to "fix" it... so not really a bad thing)

I meant CA, as in no need for you to leave as war would have come, and Supremacy could have ganked XF all they liked in empire without looking like cheap arse's by leaving CA then declairing war.

IMO it's totally lame of any alliance to split their corp like CA/Supremacy did.

It totally fubars the whole idea about the pay for wars. Doing it like this forces the one you are paying to attack to declare war against CA to be able to pay back the same way.
Furthermore - it forces the corps in the alliances to create new empire corps if they want to keep anyone doing anything but pvp in empire.
Just to make clear how much I despite the "tactic" Supremacy used: If Fountain Alliance does the same, it will probably take me 24 hours or so to become a Freelancer again :(

Ok, to the people who comparison loggin off and leaving alliances because of war costs; logging off is a out-game-thing. leaving alliance because of the cost is a ingame thing. Can happen in real life as well. Logging off can't.
Next i think it worked though. Now whole CA can fight Xetic and yet they are paying for it

Your fighters leaving the alliance (leaving on paper as they are still your buddies, allowed in your space and flying in mixed out-of-empire gangs) to lower the costs of the war declaration is nothing less or more then using or exploiting the original rules ccp setted up for alliance warfare.
Their system allowed "alliances" to claim space while you simply bypass this system to get an advantage, while in terms of gameplay supremacy are still full members of the alliance CA and just surfing currently on the advantages of the ill thought through system. Once this system is adjusted im confident we will see supremacy back in the ca alliance ingame entity. Furthermore im sure they didnt lose any council seats in the current ca ruling government or the war council....
