Calm down people its only a comercial. I have been playing eve a long time. And it is nice to have these things going on. I was there when the jove came to DSS and the alliance welcomed them. I watched as another jove managed to materialise part of his body in my hanger. I seen Doc brown kill The gurista's leader and later be rewarded the fedthron that entity no so famously owns. I have seen opux luxury yachuts and hauled for a guardian vexor bpc.
I have participated in some events and not others and i have to say i think that it add's a eliment of life to the universe that we get these events. The Fits may be bad now but they will learn that they can fit a ship right even if its all t2 and on a super carrier. The point is there is a effort being made. and tbh for all the expansions that come out and the hype over tyranis the thing that is most pleasing at this moment for me is the fact some ccp employs still want to be invulved in the world and add to it's depth.
Get off their backs over. A FIT IS A FIT be it good or bad. The ships die and people have fun. Nothing is ruined. nothing is lossed.

I love ****ed off vets. just wondering why noobies having some fleet fun would **** you off , though. Great job CCP, looking forward to more.
If I have to critique, it's that these systems should be reinforced the day prior to invasions and also that invasions should occur in multiple systems nearby to each other so not everyone blobs in one system

So basically they are saying that they removed the faction mods fitted before it died so that the event didnt involve people possibly getting valuable loot? |

I'm having alot of fun with these events honestly. Even rolled into the RP side of things and having a blast. Yes the fights are short, but there's several of m every day, and the 4 empires are struck, so everyone gets a piece. And between fights it's waiting (specially since they randomized the attacks) but then we have long chatters about the attack & the sansha's intentions.
They happen both in low&highsec. From what I see, alot of people head to these events with a large variety of ships, even when it happens in losec.
On why it isn't announced in advance? Might be to prevent pirates and others to camp gates for free kills. -------------- Cleaning up wrecks others leave behind! Got to keep space clean! |

Even if I'm not participating in those events myself(we have plenty of various events in the north regions ;) ), I'm glad, that live events are back. Good job, CCP. But maybe you should consider to leave some valuable loot next time? Shooting supercaps is fun, but I don't see anything wrong with some faction modules drop.

Do NOT put anything valuable in these ships. All it will lead to is bickering and claims of favoritism all over again.

Could someone explain some things to me?
First of all, what do you all mean by: Live events?
Secondly: Was this carrier meant to be destroyed?
And why does some people say that the carrier had armor mods on it? There were no armor mods on the killboard.

I hate hate hate hate this entire situation. Youre giving away pathetically failfit supercap killmails, nightmares with 0 offensive capability (8 nosferatu in the highs? what kind of blatant fluff is this) to grabbag frig gangs. This compltely makes a mockery of the planning and effort needed to kill legimate supercaps. When every player in FW and random lowsec missioner can point to their killboard and say proudly "ive killed a mom!", youve taken away compltely the mystery and importance of supercap kills.
Dump thousands of players (and NC alts ) in one local for a week of battles and you end up with 1 titan and 5 supercap killmails. Dump 1 wyvren in tama and 200 people whoring the mail before it lets itself be killed, add an hour long battle coordinated in a public chat channel and you have an abomination on 200 killboards in EVE fluffing them for 15bil. Thank you for making killboard stats even more unreliable and somewhat worthless.
inb4 passive recharge-LSE2 tanked nosferatu titan hotdropping jita and tanking 200k ehp before rolling over to PRVTR and their repper alts
If you are going to do a live event like this, stop going for headline grabbing garbage like this and either 1) bring a support fleet with decent fits and fight to win OR 2) dont give killmails. Dont you think it would have been more interesting to put a bait mom fleet in tama, watch a corp or ally hotdrop it, and in turn escale and get surprise dropped by yet another corp looking to do the same thing? Sure as hell beats lolmoms

Yes because you can't simply point out the fact that for all intents and purposes it was a riskless npc event kill and lulz right back at them for being kb stat whooring n00bs. Or are you afraid that some clueless pilot will confuse these npc kills with a legit player kill and so take away ur glory.. If so then you certainly have some insecurity issues to deal with my friend.

For the people worried about their KB stats. Ever thought why the carriers have such failfits? Besides making it easier for everyone involved, it also makes it easy to distingisuh between player Capitals and live-event capitals. Can't go round screaming *I killed X capitals* as a new player who likes to join a big alliance as it'll be uncovered quick.
You lot have your fun in nullsec, we got ours in low/highsec. And unlike you we don't gain alot by being part of it outside sheer fun. We actually risk to loose stuff without gaining.
If you engange carriers/supercarriers in nullsec, it's to remove a threat, to make your space safer & perhaps to get a few nice drops out of his smoking carcass. You also know that everyone involved in the fleet won't be shooting you in the back (unless he likes a quick kick from the corp/alliance)
For the people participating in the Live events, they put alot at risk for almost no gain. The BS fleet/carrierfleet poses no threat to anyone except in RP reasons. Leave it alone and nothing would happen that affects you. The people that go for these events face the risk of loosing their ships (not only from enganging the BS/caps, that is the risk you also run in nullsec) by Militia forces & wartargets. In Lowsec you can add lunatics & psycho's to it, who only want to shoot people & have no interest in the event save that it provides them a targetrich enviroment. What do they get in return? Nothing (unless you're one of the lucky who managed to loot/salvage something)
You can say, they get the fun to be in a fleet & kill caps, but hey, you do that stuff in nullsec too & with far greater consequences & far more supercapitals. -------------- Cleaning up wrecks others leave behind! Got to keep space clean! |

Edited by: Zyck on 15/05/2010 15:50:03 Seriously guys? Who the **** cares about someones KB stats. The events are meant to be fun, and the massive chaos that was going on was fun. I know this is a shocker to some of you, but not everyone plays the game for the sole purpose of being able to gloat to their friends over their internet spaceship kill efficiency.

Awesome CCP this looks like amazing fun!! Its great to see somthing that can truly define EVE back in the game
To the haters out there, you could, at least to the lowsec events, show up and kill as many of the player participents as you can to prevent them from getting the killmails you seem to treasure so much?
Otherwise stop moaning and just dont join in. Leave everyone else to have fun and pretend its not happening. ============================ 2003 and still alive! |

Surely the people who seem so angry at things only have to do the following?
1. Show up to event 2. Kill all the "unworthy" people 3. Kill the lolfit nightmares/carriers/supercarriers 4. Fap to the music of your superiority that only you can hear
Ergo there is no issue with the events, except if they're happening outside your timezone/territory, in which case, onoes.

The actors talk in local. People spot them and tell their friends/associates, in corp/alliance/militia/social networking groups. Word gets around and people show up.
So, pretty much reliant on people you know being in the right place at the right time.

I don't get why so many people are whining about this, I like the idea of bringing back live events. I wasn't around for the former ones, but things like this are always a great bit of fun to have, especially when it's something like a carrier or a mom to kill.

Balsak is right, If you don't like it stay in your little "Empire" and play EVE your way. Stay in 0.0 and play "I rule this space" Cause thats better then actually playing the game that was made. Like it or not this game comes with a story line. Be part of it or don't its your choice. But don't be mad because other players have fun and play the game that was developed.
What are you whiners going to do if they bring back the Jovians and you "Serious" players lose your ships to a passing fleet because you thought you were going to "Own" some ratts? I'll Laugh my butt off. EVE is a MMORPG this stands for (Mass Multiplayer Online ROLE Playing Game).

The great thing about Eve is that 'Events' are player driven and created, the best 'stories' are the ones created by the actions of players, individually, in corps, and alliances. Players create their own 'stories' every time they log in, and they involve interaction with the aims and actions of other players. Having CCP drop some ready-made storyline stuff in, so you have it handed to you instead of acting yourself is weak. I personally don't give a damn about actors or npc's. I play in a game with people.

I'd say the event in auga was pretty player oriented. The minnie milita thought they had it all to themselves but the amarr militia showed them the error of their ways.
