this is not a troll post, i really think i got it. I get way too angry of internet spaceships being blown up etc etc. the point is that i am not having fun anymore like i used to. I use to love blowing stuff up and being blown up. is there a way to get myself out of this bittervetness or am i just stuck with it? Please help. |

Try taking a month or two off. Go play some popular theme-park mmo, realize how immature everyone is and how shallow the economy is. You've got to take a break every now and then.

i did that other mmo thing for 2 days and simply could not handle it. i prefer spaceships scifi theme. its just like the spice , mmmpphh is gone for some reason and i have not been able to get it back.

Large Collidable Object, please explain, perhaps my definition of bittervet is incorrect, because as i understood getting irate and irational over pixels getting blown up by people new to the game in comparison to someone older in the game was a bittervet, i could be wrong though, i have been many times before. |

Bittervets are bitter cause nothing matters and they are too good at the game and theres nothing left for them to do..
That is if you ask them.
Therefore:
Bittervets dont get mad at losing virtual money by having their pixels blown up, they are too good and too rich to care, which in turns make them bitter cause then what is the point of playing.
THAT is a bittervet.

Why not start a brand new toon...avoid the experiences you have already had...then when you get bored with that, go back to blowing stuff up?

As the first response said. Play another MMO. Realize while this community may be cruel and psychotic, its slightly more... intelligent, or at least they have a better memory. And as you end up gathering more neon glowy uber gear. You realize everyone else is uber neon glowy and everyone is the same and its all segmented into little groups.

Confirming this works. Temporarily, anyway, as after a month or two back in eve it's the usual. If you've been around as long as me, it's best to time it for a big patch since, I at least, have done practically everything.

The best cure I have seen is the moving back to small gang and highspeed roams. Do the wolfpack hunting of large alliance pilots who stray from the herd. I have a friend who was getting bittervet, and went to the no sov, no etc and did focused and challenging pvp style. |

I have had sessions with pilots having problems retaining interest in what they are doing. My service is fairly new to the community but I do offer help. You can find out more on my services in sell orders under the "space therapy service" heading.
All of my sessions are private..I did ask permission to post a session..(because it was requested) with a pilot that wished to remain anonymous..so I deleted his name and posted the session in the sell order's advertisement I have been maintaining.
You can eve mail me with questions if you are interested in using my service or private convo me if I am online and available.

Right now I am sitting on a sizeable pile of isks, but it must have been about 3 months since I last logged into eve for more than a skillchange.
Never thought that shiptoasting on a forum about a game that you no longer actively play would be so much fun, but it's hilarious.

maybe you need a few months away from the game , while i am not a vet i ve been away for 7 months ,doing other things and when i came back it felt good , except that my old corp had died while i was awayn but never mind that i think i found a new corp now just as fun and even better , we will see
to the others , when are you considered a bittervet
and is there realy something like a bittervet , therre ve been severay things CCP implemented in the past i really didn't like and CCP wil implement other things in the future i will not like and this character is only from 2009, doesn't make me a bitter vet does it
if you feel the game becomes boring it means it is time for you to take a break from the game , most of you will be back and enjoy it as much as before
EvE is not a hobby , EvE is a way of life ( compared to other MMO s atleast)

Thats almost the opposite of a bittervet.
A bittervet is bitter because he sees all the flaws in EVE and hates the fact he's still playing it. Any vet is waaaaaay past the point where losing a ship hurts.

I fit Akirei Scytale's definition of bitter vet pretty well. But I have been giving it some thought, and I think that it goes a little deeper then that.
When I was more noobish, I had an Idea of how my EVE game could grow into something larger then myself. That after all is how EVE is marketed; a huge sandbox where anything is possible. So I played the game and tried too, ya know, build my own destiny. Playing the game entails a ridiculous amount of preparation time, time talking to people, time invested and time negotiating with other pilots... ending in about 30 seconds of fun (or) a long drawn out blob fest with lag.
So each time I "created my own destiny" the end result was, well... vastly underwhelming.
To give you an example of what I am talking about, I have built more then one alliance from the ground up (ranging from 1200 to 500 pilots), I have lived in null, I have been a merc, I have tried trade, I have ran PVP numerous PVP schools and I have even "conquered" multiple wormholes. But all of this was just my idea of a game. MY IDEA is the key. Because playing the game itself never changes.
What I Have Realized As A Bitter Vet
No matter what you "think" you are doing in EVE online, the GAME NEVER changes. It will always been a great deal of prep-time leading to you blowing up, in a 30-60 sec fire fight or a lengthy lag fest. Every now and then you win, and most of the time you explode. That is the game. The dream of "forging your own destiny" and "creating your own world" is a hallucination on our part, created by CCP's expert marketing campaign. You cannot actually change the game at all. Whether you are in null, in a wormhole, being a merc or teaching 500 people how to conquer the universe... it is the exact same thing in the end.

you get 30-60 sec of semi-satisfaction once you get there
you usually blow up
you have to make a new ship, make isk to get a new ship and invest more time doing so... just to do it all over again. 
This pattern IS THE GAME PLAY. That gameplay is not very fun or rewarding, only the idea of EVE's potential keeps us playing. The reward comes from the pursuit of that light at the end of the tunnel. But if you play long enough EVERYONE realizes that there is no light at the end of the tunnel, what you are doing now... and what you have been doing the entire time... is the ENTIRE game, and has been all along.
It takes some people longer to realize this then others. Shamefully, it took be the better part of four years. But once you realize this basic truth of eve, you never get that special "flare" for the game back. Because it was never the game play that compelled you in the first place, it was only the idea of what you can become that did.
