How long have you been playing?
>> 2 1/2 years
Have you ever been in low sec?
>> almost daily now, but had been a high-sec only carebear for long time. I wasn't afraid to go to low/0.0 in the beginning, but the more I had to lose the more i stayed in high-sec, while also being occupied with a lot of high-sec things that I enjoyed.
Do you run missions or complexes in low sec?
>> missions, no, unless a story line mission sends me there. Complexes yes.
If so, what is the appeal for you?
>> the inherent danger gives thrill, and faction/deadspace drop is nice.
If not, why not?
Are rewards in low sec in line with the risk?
>> complex rewards are good enough, and if the drops increased in terms of quality/quantity than it would bring down the overall price of loots anyway so I don't think increasing loot rewards is the answer. However, one thing that is overlooked here is 'time sink' instead of 'risk'. Finding complexes takes a lot of time, as well as dodging other PvPers if you are going to low sec with a PvE ship. Basically, to me it's more like 'instant reward' (highsec mission) vs. needinging to have extended period of free/uninterrupted time available to do anything worthwhile in low sec.
Is the risk in low sec over-stated?
>> yes. The more gate camps you've ran into in your time, the easier it becomes to dodge. I think most of the time it's the case of running into a few gate camps with no experience in the beginning and then building this disproportinate impression of risk in low-sec.
Would education from savvy players about how to mitigate risk in low sec encourage folks who didn't just want to AFK L4's to operate there?
>> TBH this is stupid. Education only goes so far. Experience is the main thing. You need to lose ships in order to gain that valuable experience for surviving in low sec, and if people are not willing to make this investment then no amount of education will help.
What is the number one change to low sec that would cause you to considering doing missions and complexes there? (Be realistic! "Kick the pirates out!" is humorous but not realistic. )
>> For complexes, I don't see any problem. For missions, I would say MAKE MWD WORKABLE IN MISSION SPACE. This would have following benefits,
1. It makes blaster boats viable in high-sec missions as much as autocannon/pulse setups (help Kronos!)
2. This way all the mission runners going to low-sec missions would fit MWD, greatly increasing their chance of survival at gate camps.
3. Mission runners will have much better chance to run if someone probe them out during their mission, again, inreased survivability.
Do you believe it is possible to make low sec changes that would allow both pirates and carebears to co-exist profitably without crippling either's play style to extinction? Why or why not?
>> I don't see the need for changes in low-sec, and I think it's more to do with player attitude than game mechanic. Some people will weigh risk vs. reward and make their decision, while some people simply won't like any risk at all. These people will won't go to low-sec no matter what the incentive as long as any risk is involved, and seriously, we can't take this risk element away from low-sec. :p
