How long have you been playing? 5 years on and off
Have you ever been in low sec? you bet
Do you run missions or complexes in low sec? no, high sec has a better risk/reward ratio
If so, what is the appeal for you? n/a
If not, why not? i may try it soon, with a 2nd mission boat. The fact that I would have to jump a PVE battleship through a stargate without a scout makes me laugh. Now that i can run any gallente or minmatar agent, i'll just decline missions that are out of system, and only run in really quiet systems, with corpmates in system, and my alt right outside station monitoring the undock.
Are rewards in low sec in line with the risk? considering the fact that the odds of getting u boat violenced are at least an order of magnitude higher in lowsec, no. the rewards are not in line.
Is the risk in low sec over-stated? the risk is overstated. it's not like the average bear thinks. You don't just get blown up at the first jump into lowsec at the gate. Not everyone is actively chasing you, though most are. You can get away if you don't fly like a rahtard.
Would education from savvy players about how to mitigate risk in low sec encourage folks who didn't just want to AFK L4's to operate there? I don't know. I've met some pretty stubborn bears, and I think that after allowing them to bear it up so long in relative comfort and acceptance by the devs that they think the game is supposed to be so forgiving and afkable. :(
What is the number one change to low sec that would cause you to considering doing missions and complexes there? (Be realistic! "Kick the pirates out!" is humorous but not realistic. ) make 0.0 lowsec and hisec have all the same rat, but make the bounties depend on security status of the system. lowsec with a 4x multiplier, and 0.0 with an 8x multiplier. Make the +5 and +10 percent roids spawn in lowsec and 0.0 respectively, and change them to +20 and +50 percent! I hope this doesn't seem too extreme. at this point, looking at the population of lowsec and 0.0 i'd say it's the only hope.
Do you believe it is possible to make low sec changes that would allow both pirates and carebears to co-exist profitably without crippling either's play style to extinction? Why or why not? yes. make hisec not so damn profitable honestly i mean jeez. it should only be a place that you go when you get "podded back to empire" as they used to say . When you lose everything you had in 0.0 and just need a place to scrounge up enough for a battlecruiser. and it should be hard to scrounge up enough for a battlecruiser in empire.
