*Yawns* Think I'll just wait for the auto patch, as that one might be outdated it's rather common for last min changes on things like patches. By the time the server is live, I'll most likely be at work anyway, good thing I dropped in a 5 day skill.

Yeah I like that idea, it would save all these pilots from downloading that patch only to find out that it's incompatible when the servers are live.
I wouldn't waste my bandwidth on it at the moment, as all it takes is some developer at CCP to correct a typo and that download was a waste of your bandwidth and time.
When they are ready, they will have lots of servers ready to handle all those inbound requests to download it, and the chances are they will also have many clusters of servers scattered around the globe if they are to do it right. So hopefully, it won't be as painful as some would suggest here.
Think YouTube, you honestly don't think that runs off a couple of servers based in one country now do you?

I think everyone is misunderstanding what the person was trying to say. I didn't see the extended downtime(i.e. 1800 utc/gmt) until after I got off work last night. I too had skill training worries, since my skill queue should expire either tonight, or tomorrow morning. Either way, I am just saying learn to read nubs. ;)

CCP don't host the patch/client download themselves. They outsource it to a Content Distribution service - and as it's not hard to work out which one it is (Level3) you don't exactly need to worry about a lack of bandwidth as they aren't exactly a small company...!

I like the new login screen tune... very oldschool EVE-ish somehow. I keep expecting to hear that woman from the intro videos to start talking over the music ;P

Hurray, new login screen is up. But who said the intro music is great? It's that ambient underwater whale-song stuff all over again. Hope CCP revamps the music/sound effects some day, can't remember any other game than EVE where I so readily switched off music.
A good sound design could add so much more to New Eden - different flavors of background music per Sovereignty - e.g. tribal music for Thukker/Matar space, religious/arabic music for Amarr/Khanid, no music or some random static for empty WH/0.0 systems etc.
Btw. I hope that all players can benefit from the new sound alerts, not only AlienWareFX stuff owners...
