Edited by: Scott Woods on 23/05/2010 19:38:38 I have decided to kill myself. This is not new, pilots do this all the time. Face it, for we immortals suicide is a fun game to play when we are bored. So you may be wondering why I bother? Simple: I'm doing this for real.
I just bribed a tech to disable the neural scanner on my pod and update the firmwares validation hash to corrupt the data while creating valid check-sums for outgoing packets. The next time I die, a garbage data-stream will be sent to my "new clone" and it will be effectively worse than brain-dead, as the brain will simply stop the automated processes that keep the body going, and it too will die. But not before the data-stream and the contents of the new bodies brain will be verified as matching, deleting all of my prior neural topographies. I will be dead.
This not new, I'm sure at least some of you have gotten evemails about your corp mates dieing an accidental death during reanimation.. So Guess what? Its not really an ascendant when this happens.
At this point, my estate has orders to sell off my DNA profile. In fact, the sell order has already been made, as I sort of wanted to see what it was worth. But of course, what about my stuff? Yes, you CAN have it if you win it. Everything must go.
But how do you win? Entering is simple and free (yes, free this is not a scam (So of course, you now think it is - Ha!)).
Just do one of the following:
1. Tell me what you would do with the 21 billion isk I have in my wallet and assets.
2. Tell me about the dreams you have for yourself in eve that you are worried will never come true.
3. Tell me about the biggest mistake you have made in this universe we call eve. What did you learn if anything?
4. Give some sage advice for people who will be here long after my plot license is dead and gone and somebody else is using my face.
The best stories, the best ideas, will get random assets and isk gifted to them. This will continue until I am broke, with just my pod to my name, and at that point I will suicide.
If you want to know why I am doing this, just look around for my DNA sell order.
EDIT: Evemail works too, but I rather it be here. All else being equal, posting it here gets more value.

I will use the ISK / stuff for some low sec fun with my great corp (RL) friends.
My biggest lesson would probably be losing 300m in a a hauler getting ganked (use stuff with a tank (eg. not a shuttle) for hauling expensive things)
and just because its a decent ship doesn't mean they know how to fly it, so have a go.
My advice for anyone is simply fortune favours the bold, so take the risk. Age and ISK really don't mean much if you know what you are doing, I started playing this character after I quit my old one and the lessons mean 20X more than the ISK and skill points ever did.
Remember Zealots die to rifters, bigger isn't better and if your name Alex Andrews flying a falcon in fleets is expensive.
For a story I once lead a Gallente militia fleet of battle-industrials and rookie ships right to the nourv gate in tama after seeing the haulers killing a vaga video, lols were had, as was explosions and insurance.
Oh yeah and if you want people to take you seriously don't try and use an amusing character name.
TL;DR Can I have your stuff?

A few pieces of advice for everybody, including the OP, which is valid both for EVE and real-life...
There's a saying that goes "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again". There's another saying however that goes "doing exactly the same thing and expecting different results is one of the signs of insanity". So my advice to you is... "if you just can't succeed, try doing it differently"
In other words, if you got bored with EVE and things seem like they're a grind, everything is routine and nasty... throw caution to the wind and do something crazy (short of suicide, heh) and I can almost guarantee the boredom will be gone.
There's so many things to do in EVE, one has to wonder how can one get bored.
Fly solo. Fly with a group of people you picked up in local. Tutor a newbie. Try exploration. Join a corp. Form a corp. Declare corp war on random people. Incite people to wardec your corp. Try to infiltrate an alliance just so you can help their enemies. Be a neutral party in a large fleet fight (covops cloak helps, hehe). Try suicide-ganking. Try STOPPING a suicide gank. Bait some suicide-gankers to kill you. Become a pirate. Patrool random areas of lowsec and become an anti-pirate. Join the RvB war in Red. Move over to Blue. Participate in FW. Live in a wildspace system. Be a pirate in a wildspace system. Be a wildspace lost pilot rescue service. Act as a scout for a stranger. Visit the EVE Gate. Run the epic mission arcs for all factions. Visit the Monolith. Visit THE SIGN (warning, sharp edges). Visit the memorial of the first Titan kill (and make it back to a station alive).
Heck, watch some C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate

With 21 Bilion in ISK I think I'd finally set up with my alt in a nigh-on completely nomadic lifestyle. Training for an Orca currently, I'd stock it up with sleeper op ships and PvP frigates and travel through W-space. I'd love to set up a small POS in W-space at some point also - it'd be great fun until I inevitably got rolled by a dread fleet or something ridiculous - but won't stop me doing it at some point Love to wander the universe with a mobile home - entering K-space only for supplies. |

1. I don't know what I would do with 21 bil isk if given that much. I have thought of buying a Nyx but I think it's not really a worthy investment as I would just end up having it hotdropped by 20 supercaps. If given only a fraction of that (Say 5 Bil), I would use it to fund my PVP career so I would never have to farm isk again to have fun, so I wouldn't be so protective and safe when pvping. I might even buy a Slave set and pvp with it in frigates, etc. I would buy a few archons to have fun sometimes and even pimp fit a proteus and use it! But mostly I would use a lot of Hacs and recons in more daring ways.
I don't think it's a good incentive to give stuff away to people in eve who don't deserve it, but there are many people who get screwed over and if I had enough isk laying around I wouldn't mind replacing their falcon when they helped a corpmate escape in his Loki from a gatecamp. You get the drift, people need to be rewarded for good deeds.
2. I dream of flying in a top notch pvp fleet with logis, Bs, T3s, and most importantly good pilots, so we can roam lowsec and get into truly GREAT fights, where skill and teamwork is the winner and numbers and power is matched. Why is this never going to happen? In EVE it's all about the gank, so if We ever flew this we would be hotdropped every time and no one would even attempt an even fight against that setup. All that would happen would be ganks on our part until we got Titan Bridged by 20 Supercarriers and support tackle.
3. The biggest mistake I made in eve was canceling my account back in 2005. If I knew how important it was to train skills I would have let it train so I could fly ships now with max skills. It is not all bad however, as I quickly learned when I got back that the thing that matters most in pvp is your personal skill in the game and no amount of Lvl 5's will change that. Bad players will be bad players, and good players will still kill them.
4. Never trust people with your eve property. They may be your best buddies but opportunity makes the thief and you will be setting yourself up for some hurt. As an addenum, don't **** with the people you play this game with because of e-money or property or petty disagreements. Your reputation will follow you but most importantly the relationships you grow here really matter to you and no matter how much you may make others believe you are the GANGSTER the only real loser about it is going to be you.
Bonus: Don't get addicted to this game, play in moderation and balance it with your real life priorities.
If this is a troll then 10/10. I would rely apreciate some isk as per #1 but it's ok if i don't get anything. I think this is a helpful post for others anyway.

With 21 billion isk I would spend a few billion on PLEX to keep my account going for a while. Then I'd give my best friends a billion or two each. I'd probably save the rest and spend it as I needed it on replacement PvP ships (no more PvE grinding for me! )

1) I'd buy most of the T1 BPOs I don't have right now, and start to research them. The rest of the money I'd keep for other unforseeable events that might happen. You know, to have a financial buffer.
2) I hope to own a somewhat large collection of researched blueprints, with copies ready to sell. I don't really care whom to, as long as people buy.
3) Leaving a fully rigged Drake in low-sec while studying the map, and forgetting I was in low-sec. Needless to say someone scanned me and subsequently shot me =D I learned my lesson that day, and to never leave a ship in dead-space like that ever again.
4) No one is what they seem. Trust no one, wear different hats for the different people. Adapt to the situation. Don't smacktalk. Players with female avatars are mostly guys. Don't let harassment get to you, stay cool, calm, and use your head. ________________________

Just do one of the following:
1. Tell me what you would do with the 21 billion isk I have in my wallet and assets. I would also come up with ways to give away isk and help promote eve
2. Tell me about the dreams you have for yourself in eve that you are worried will never come true. I one day would like to run a pos and maybe part of a planet but there is just so much isk involved and Ive never had that type of capital to invest in something other than ships. Dont think I ever will heh but I am cool with that. I also have an unexplainable urge to fly a Naglfar because its the tallest ship ever lol. My best friend is the preview window. I also want to be around for when CCP bring the Jove out but I think they are going to kill my interest in eve first.

1) I'd give a few billion to some interesting people I know in eve, they deserve it after everything they've done. Then I'd buy myself a shiny new Golem to replace the one I lost which I will explain in point three. And probably a few decent ships and try to find somewhere I can try some PVP without worrying too much over the losses. Seeing as my only source of income has exploded.
2) It bothers me that so far I've tried a lot of things in Eve and haven't been particularly good at any of them, most people have their little area where they excel, I just seem to be mediocre at everything. Though I'm sure there's something I'll find, the cluster is a big place.
3) I lost my Golem in a mission, Pirate invasion, after not paying attention at all. Overconfidence told me I was fine to tab out for a second, then when I tabbed back in, boom. Oh, I also forgot to pack missiles on that mission. I've learned not to be so overconfident
Another thing I did was buy a 200 million GSC from the Jita market , though by a massive stroke of luck the person I bought it from was a good friend and kindly reimbursed me. That person would be one of the people in point 1.
4) Advice.. don't assume you're safe anywhere, even when docked, because you'll do something stupid at some point and it will cost you a lot of money (accidentally trashing a ship, which I've also done). And don't waste money on frivolaties that you'll never use, like copy speed implants when you don't even do research.

I would spend money a bit on the corp and the rest to myself
BUT
I would spend in such a way to create pvp-videos that everybody can enjoy it :D And thanking you for the isk in the video itself.
I mean, with 21bil I can pvp for like 8 years straight on. Maybe 4 if I faction fit some stuff.
Give it to me and I'll make everybody enjoy of it :D

Edited by: fairimear on 23/05/2010 20:26:21 1. If i had 21 billion isk i would a. either buy some capital bpo's for my corp to build stuff or a new pilot so i can fly with my corp at our secondary base more as i have been feeling limited in my ability to fly with them recently. would pay some of my corp mates some isk i dnt owe them but would like to repay.
2. would like to have a character that reflects the sp of my age because for reasons i cant control i have not been subbed for my entire age. :/
3. I had a go at a corp mate of mine once that said i had lost touch with the game and had become lazy in my game style. i ripped into him about it and he was right and it was because i had been around doing the easy thing for isk in eve for so long i forgot how to make the effort in game. but when i did after he said i found that i enjoyed the game much much more. Since then he has helped me when he probably should not have and i have found a good lot of people to fly with for the past months that help me stay on focus.
4. after playing since beta 12 in 1 way or another. I would say the most important thing is your corp mates. Find some good ones and leanr to trust them just enuff and you will enjoy the game so much. Train skills that let you have fun with your friends. Go to fanfest.
A little add on. Your character is your most imporatnt asset. No ship or mod or item will let you do more in eve than a good character.
I know you said just one but i felt like i been round a bit to have a little on all.

1. Buy some bpos and research them. I will also use it to pvp a lot 2. Daring to pvp in expensive ships, Im to afraid of losing stuff. 3. I had a two long breaks from eve, sometimes I wish I hadnt. Would have had lots of more isk and sp:(
But I did my biggest misstakes was between february and august/september 04 when I began playing eve. I got in to a Maller quite fast(corp gave me one). I really sucked at setups and such at that time, I almost only trained gunnery skills put an activeshield tank on the Maller. I lost a few Mallers to pve and the corp still gave me new Mallers when I lost it.
Eventually after around 5 months I got a Megathron from the corp. I had both battelships and large hybrid turret to 5 but I didnt have hulluppgrades even at 1 Around 2-3 weeks after I got it I got bored of eve and quit before I had flown it more than one or two times. It just sat in my hangar because I couldnt afford the insurance.... It was probly good that I didnt fly it since I would have lost it in no time since I only had (bad) shield tanking skills.
4. Play to have fun eve is not a job.

Edited by: Eldiora on 23/05/2010 20:34:59 No real plans what I personally would do with 21 bil isk, probably get enough plexes to play the game as long as I want because its a great game and I wouldnt have to worry about being able to play the next monthly fee.
As for goals I fear I would not reach so far I have reached the goals I set myself and I doubt there would be some that I couldnt reach with the help of my splendid corpmates, no need for a huge pile of isk to reach your goals if you have a good corp with you.
Oh the most stupid thing I did so far was probably something I repeat far too often. Sometimes I look past myself and think why I lost my cool again. Yeah loosing my sight for what was going on, getting into a blood frenzy, that is the biggest mistage I have done in my eve time so far and I repeat it.
The best of it just happened a few days ago. I am a Capsuler that is living in wormhole space, before that I was a 0.0 resident. However, living in wormhole space have dulled my sense for pvp quit alot. All my corpmates and me do is mostly looking for other people to gank while they are unaware of our presence. So when we are the ones getting ganked things go bad most often.
Same with the fight we had a few days ago, there was a Commandship that just entered the wormhole, somewhere in the back of my mind I heard a faint voice yelling "trap". But as I began falling into my "oh my god keeel it" blood frenzy, our fleet engaged it. Needles to say, it was a trap but that was not the worst, the worst part was that most of us made it out. We regrouped at our pos and I sent the fleet to engage, while switching ships I tought my fleet was engaged at the wormhole so I went there in my shiny Bhaalgorn fully faction fit. It was when I landed, realizing that the 3 ecm boats had already been shot.
My faction Battleship went down in a nice lightball explosion. What bugged me more than loosing my ship was the tought that I had sent my corpmates to a slaughter fest and I already hat the feeling it was a trap.
So in addition to my story of the biggest mistake so far ive made also some advice. When you are fighting, never loose your head, always keep in mind it might be a trap and act corresponding.
And for the new folks of eve, join eve university I have been there and learned how eve works. Its a good place to start, then look for a corporation that suits your tastes. Eve is a great game but it needs company to be enjoyed to its fullest (my opinon) a true MMo that is true to its massive multiplayer and not a shabby singleplayer game with chatlobby.

1) The usual. Pay people to write for the Tribune, give away a couple of mil at a time to unsuspecting noobs. Have a contest and give away PLEXes.
2) Sometimes I'm worried that I won't make enough ISk to keep both the Tribune going and pay for pvping and other stuff. It would be really hard if I had to pick only one of them.
3) Rejected a claw BPO, got a cheetah BPO instead. Borrowed it to a friend who left Eve and never gave it back.
4) Make a lot of friends in Eve, just don't lend them your BPOs.

3. Biggest mistake i have made in eve was shooting a gate during a war with the privateers. I learned that the overview can bug out and gates and gate guns can appear as wartargets.
4. There are 4 things, you need to always remember in eve, . 1. Remember to update your clone 2. remember to insure your ship 3. Remember when doing a courier mission to put the cargo in your ship before you undock, its quite embaressing to fly 13 jumps and realize you forgot the cargo 4. remember to scoop your drones.
