Wormholes are fun.
Except when you have to scan down 40 anomalies for your lazy corp mates. > Implying I need a signature |

No need to be turned off by them, just do a little research while you are floating outside the wormhole. The entrance has a name, and gives a clue as to where it may exit. Lots of resource sites on the interwebs, search google for: eve wormhole database

I remember the first time I went into a wormhole.. I was still rather noobies, but I had found exploration to be interesting, fun and worthwile to do. And when I mentioned I had found a wormhole leading to a C1 ( yes, I had done the homework ), some corpies were also interested in trying out W-space.
we formed a fleet, and I while people were coming to join me, I scanned down everything in the hole, then left and grabbed a combat ship, my beloved Dramiel ( without probes, oops.. nobody has probes with them now ), our fleet moved in and whiel I had also done the math on the size of the hole so we could go in and out comfortably, I had not accounted for our salvaging ship, which was a hurricane.. that was tanked and whatnot, so didn't have that much cargo room. We did a bunch of sites, then when the salvager came back in at some point, told us the hole had collapsed behind him. So I asked him how on earth that could have happaned, and then I get told it was a cane.. Ouchies.. now our whoel fleet is stuck in here and we don't have scanner probes with us to scan a new highj sec exit.
LUCKILY, I had scanned down some other wormholes inside the wormhole. So we went looking at them, to see where they lead, first 2 went further into W-space.. bad idea.. last one went into null sec. At least it was K-space.. so better than nothing. We jumped through with our ragtag fleet, and end up deep in the drone regions in Solar space. up till now, nobody of us had had any pvp experience, ventured into low sec, let alone null sec or sov space.. so we were all.. ohh ****. Our most 'veteran' player had heard some stories on how this was done.. things about a scout ahead, flying to celestials to avoid bubbles and some more stuff. By luck, the only thign we encountered on our 20 jump trip to high sec was a lone pirate in a pod. Which I couldn't resist giving an express trip to the medical station. ( My first pod kill.. ) Eventually, we managed to get ourselves back to our own home near Hek, feeling very much relieved, and much wiser about wormholes. It most definitely was a harrowing adventure for a bunch of noobies in waay too deep, and in the middle of the night. I lost half a night's sleep on that, and about another half night of sleep because of the adrenalin rush from the whole thing, but it was SO WORTH IT!
PS: now 2 years later, I still have that dramiel. Of all the ships I have, it's my most precious, because I found the BPC as a 2 week noob, built it, used it, enjoyed it, and now still have it. ( no I don't take it out for PvP, I'll buy other dramiels for that if I want to fly a drammie in pvp, this one is sentimental )

Yea, wormhole life is hard life. Those who live within are always watching, always waiting. Just most of the time you can't see them |

I've jumped into about a hundred wormholes in my time in eve and not a single one was camped (although the entrance was bubbled a couple of times). In fact I've never observed combat of any kind in a wormhole at all, and the few ships that are on scan are always sitting in a pos doing nothing. Did the inhabitants all just cloak up the instant they see a harmless anathema popping through? |

Where are you scanning them down? Null, Low or High?
I've scanned down a few dozen in highsec recently, and most of them were populated by medium to large industrial corps. Went into a C3 about a week ago and 2 carriers were camping the gate.
Seems like every WH corp I find are either German or Russian. |
