O/,
I am a student at the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main and I am working on a study about EVE-Online (degree work). This stuff is so complicated that I need your help. I create small survey (10min.) to look how the people see and understand EVE-Online.
Be a part of this study and help me to show what EVE-Online is (for the since world).

Two comments/feedback:
1. Correct the spelling/grammar in the English version of the survey even if English is not your native language. Find someone to help you with it if needed.
2. Towards the end of the survey you ask for backround information such as nationality and ethnicity(origin). In ethnicity you have virtually every country listed in there. This is not what ethnicity is.

Some of those questions/answers are a bit shallow.
Like the one with the two ships fighting at a gate?
Makes a huge difference if that's in high- or low- or nullsec.
Manufacturing was not available as activity.
The "invest 1 bil ISK" question does not state the risk involved to get popped (again: high-, low- or nullsec?)
It's kinda hard to decide if the reward is worth it if you have no indication about the risks...

I was looking for something like China or Mainland China or Volksrepublik China when filling the "where do you live" box, quite surprised I found "Zhong Guo" instead :D

I could use some help with my thesis too. If anyone finds any fossiliferous units in the Moenkopi Formation, especially ones that contain terrestrial vertebrate material, please let me know.

Your questions on risk vs reward do not allow for risk evaluation or mitigation. They only recognise increased rewards. In a RL investment I'm unlikely to lose all my cash.
Regarding the hauling 1B ISK in assets for X% reward questions. If the risk of losing that hauler is 50/50, it is not sensible to take that risk for a 10% reward. If the risk is 1 in 20 it would still be a profitable endeavour.
The gate vs train comparison is not valid. IRL we have a lot more criteria to quickly evaluate the risk or appropriateness of intervention. As an adult male I would have little to fear from intervention. As a juvenile or female would have more to fear. In game the risk of intervention from those would make little difference. The morality of intervention is also unclear. The small ship could be a can flipper/criminal flagged or a pirate that's just killed the other players hauler, my ship could be a shuttle or hauler, or fitted for PvE.

Tbh, this was very "confusing".
Finland was listed as "Suomen tasavalta", which is the formal (Republic of Finland, never used) phrase in Finnish.
Since the query was in English, I went looking for "Finland", nothing there, then "Suomi", nothing there either.
Going over one by one "Suomen tasavalta" was found.
Also, I understand that English isn't your first language, neither is it mine, but grammar check would be in order. It just makes answering so much easier when the "message" is clear. |
