For PvP, is it generally better to fit artys or autocannons on a thrasher for soloing/small gang work? |

People, who do solo, do not not want their pray to warp away. That means warp disruptor or warp scrambler, and mwd. T1 warp disruptor is 20km, t1 scram is 7.5km, with t2 guns and faction ammo both ranges are more or less achieved.
For the record, a wolfy eat my arti bellicose (matari cruiser), that is how I know why ac is better for solo work. |

Better DPS, much better tracking, and easier fittings. All are generally good for solo PVP where you need to perform all aspects of combat and fight at generally close range.
Arties get better range and volley damage, and this can be a worthwhile tradeoff in gangs; trickier to pull off solo. |

Edited by: Andrea Skye on 26/05/2010 20:48:36 Arty thrasher is the best. Speed is your friend. Something like this:
[Thrasher, New Setup 1] Fourier Transform I Tracking Program Gyrostabilizer II
Phased Monopropellant I Hydrazine Boosters Warp Disruptor II 'Langour' Drive Disruptor I
280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP S 280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP S 280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP S 280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP S 280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP S 280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP S 280mm Howitzer Artillery II, Republic Fleet EMP S [empty high slot]
Small Ancillary Current Router I Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I Small Ancillary Current Router I
Just stay at like 15-18 km. Annihilate anything frigate sized and anything that cant shoot beyond that. Keep your web overloaded for inties and the like and web them asap. By time thier in range to kill you... thier dead. Did I mention it also one volleys drones?
Cant remember how many Crows Ive one volleyed with this thing :D
It has nearly no tank, so once your scrammed/webbed your toast. But it goes 2.3km/s with my snakes... so staying out of range of most things is pretty easy.
Pretty cheap too, definatly worth it.

Edited by: Ahz on 26/05/2010 22:36:16 Thrasher = arties in almost all cases.
If you come up against a T1 frig you might be better off with ACs if you get close enough. But against anything else, stay at range.
7x 280mm Arti II
1x Tracking Computer (range script) 1x Sensor Booster (range script) 1x MWD II
1x Gyro II 1x Tracking Enhancer II
Polycarb rigs, Nozzle Joints, aux thrusters.
Your targets will be frigates (T1, AFs and Inties) and other destroyers.
You'll be able to lock and hit out to about 45k and you'll be very fast. If anything comes for you align away, hit the MWD and turn on the guns. You'll either take them down, run them off or get away yourself.

I love the advice. There is only one problem with it. "No plan survives the encounter with the enemy, that is why they are called: the enemy."
I can see arti thrasher surviving in a gang. But solo... I have grave doubts.

Unless a very stupid frig pilot flies directly at you, preferably with MWD on and you manage to score a direct hit, you are going to die :)
Go AC. Better yet.. ditch the destroyer and build an assault missile caracal.

280mms? Really?
I've used both variants of the Thrasher, 200mm ACs and 250mm Arties. One of them fights at point blank and the other kites within scram range. Both are very effective against any and all frigates, so it really comes down to personal preference.
