T2 have a slightly lower capacitor penalty. This can be useful to some ships (especially thorax). They use more cap activating however. Possibly the drop rate for named MWD will be changed in a later patch.
However, I think the price will move up a bit as many people who'd fit plain T1 MWD on pvp ships go for the named (it never made sense to put named on T1 hulls).
Incorrect. Even on the deimos and thorax, unless you just have utterly crappy cap skills, the YT-8 is far superior to the T2 MWD. The ONLY advantage the T2 MWD has over the YT-8 is it survives a little better when overheated.
Bottom line is that the YT-8 has been superior to the T2 MWD ever since the speed changes made all MWD's be the same exact velocity. T2 is harder to fit and chews more cap when activated. It's only benefit is a *very minor* reduction in how much cap penalty it gives which is not enough to counter-act the lower activation cost of the YT-8.
Don't believe me? Fly the same exact fit on a thorax or deimos and find out. Again, unless you have crappy cap skills. And even then the performance margins are so close that the better fitting on the YT-8 outweighs the minor benefit of the T2 MWD.

Woohoo here goes my 530mil isk :/
I was making 20mil/day on average on Y-T8 selling them at steady 8mil/piece and keeping a small 10-15 units stock. I only started buying them like crazy when the price went down to 3-4 mil in Lonetrek ...
Stopped at 530mil, checked Jita price, went into full PANIC mode, loaded 100 units and started looking for old buy orders. Found one in Metropolis at 6.5mil, clicked sell, clicked ok ... and order JUST EXPIRED WRRRRRR :(
I guess im stuck with them now.

TBH considering I've always used YT-8 rather than T2 I'm personally thrilled by the price crash on them :) Also real happy with the reduced costs on the Quad LIF's for battleships :)

Where were Y-T8's ever this expensive? I bought about 300 of them in Jita two weeks ago, at 80,000 ISK. I have been selling them in my home system at around 190k very steadily. Our whole region doesn't show a Y-T8 for more than 500k.

They were in the millions - they were almost up there with arbalest heavy missile launchers for the mission salvage jackpot item. Then with tyrannis they started dropping a lot more (multiple in a single mission compared to maybe 1 a week or less). I noticed this almost immediately and sold all I had in my stockpile to buy orders locally (making millions per unit). It didn't take long at all for the price to crash (couple of days maybe), you had to be quick but there were a lot of people who logged on, thought they had been lucky as their buy orders had been filled and then discovered they had actually bought a lot of overpriced stock.

T2 ABs are pretty much fine - cold-gas and Y-S8 were very cheap before the patch, and have always been inferior to T2 in terms of the speed boost they confer. MWDs... not so much.

Running 7 missions a day (lvl 4) I usually end up at 10+ named afterburners and MWD's. Just my 50 cents
