Anaxis Muntaine Black Bridge Services	Posted - 2010.05.27 23:27:00 - [1] While enjoying the I was thinking today about my most expensive ship loss in EVE and it got me to wondering if others had lost similarly good ships while running missions? When I first started playing, about 10 months ago, my first character was given a few billion isk by a buddy who quti the game due to having a new baby and other RL comittments. You can see where this is going already... So, here I am, with far more isk than experience. I had blown through the Level 1-3 missions quite easily as I'd bought overpowered ships. So, I thought that was just how you played the game. Well, when I got to the Level 4 missions, I bought a CNR and fitted it with whay today I now know was an lolfit - it was pimped with all CN fittings (thinking an all CN fit would be the coolest), from the cruise launchers to ammo to two invuln fields (which at the time were around 350 mil each) and three or four BCS's. Also had the CN XL booster and a couple other mods. Anyway, on my FIRST level 5 mission, I figured my ship smoke dthe Level 4s, so 5s couldn't be too bad. Of course, about 5 minutes into my first level 5, I get webbed repeatedly (seemed like continuously) and then pounded to very tiny bits by a million aggored BS's. Lost my billion isk plus CNR and nearly quit the game. Actually I ended up closing down that account and giving my isk away to another buddy, starting a new account a few months later. Definitely a lesson in being isk rich and EVE stupid. I was wondering what ships other folks had lost in PvE and if they were as bad as my epic fail... (oh and feel free to troll this one, I earned it)

The only time I ever came close was when I got ****y and rushed a mission i've never done and didnt even fit the right tank. Webbed by 10 frigs but no scrams, warped my Abaddon out in 30% structure. Lord Yusheng Minmatar	Posted - 2010.05.28 01:34:00 - [4] Doing the very last room of the Kidnappers Strike 10/10 room where you have to destroy a building and the whole room aggroes, normally I do it against the Blood Raiders so the lasers don't do much damage at 80+ km away so I waltz up to the container and loot it for the implants and casually warp out. Well I got Guristas version and I figured same thing...except their missiles COULD hit me at over 80km distance...and there were sooooo many. I died shortly after. This was in my Harbinger so no big loss, I don't plan to lose a ship to a mission again.

Koloch Amarr	Posted - 2010.05.28 03:55:00 - [6] I've lost; CNR Mach (one of the first ones ingame) NH x2 -with full faction gear (passive fit) Paladin and an Ishtar (passive fit) ...I think that's about it. Every single loss except one of the NH ones I laughed off. I can tell you that I've had ten times that number in close calls.
Mara Rinn	Posted - 2010.05.28 04:58:00 - [7] My most embarassing loss was a CNR, to Guristas in "Intercept the Saboteurs". It's one jump gate, into a room full of ships from frigates to battleships. I started up my tank, took one shot at the Guristas, then did its favourite EVE crash to desktop manoeuvre. The Dominix my alt was flying was left to try and target frigates (45 seconds plus) and shoot them down with sentry drones (she now carries light drones too... I told you it was embarassing), madly transferring shields into the quickly shrinking buffer of the CNR's tank. Sat there watching for about 50 seconds as the entire room aggroed on the CNR and smashed it up. It was warp scrambled and had aggressed, so no convenient disappearing trick at the 1 minute mark. By the time I was able to log back in again I was in a pod =( [Aussie players: join ANZAC channel]

My main was sitting in a Domi at the time, easily tanking whatever the rats threw at her. I figured I'd add an Apoc on the alt to speed it up some. I didn't know a lot about aggro rules and such at the time, figured the Domi would tank everything so the Apoc was mostly fit for gank. Needless to say, the second wave that spawned jumped the Apoc and of course included a handful of scrambling frigs too A badly tanked Apoc doesn't last long, so she went back home in a pod (and I had an extra BS wreck to salvage afterward )

Uncle Lim	Posted - 2010.05.28 09:36:00 - [11] Nothing that spectacular, tbh. Lost a T2 fitted Apoc to the Angel pocket of L4 Worlds Collide because I forgot to move the drones into my drone bay. Lost a T2 fitted Arbitrator trying to solo L2 Recon. Lost a Cormorant to the starter Epic Arc, that mission with the scrambling drone. I don't think I've ever lost any other ships to missions...

At the time storyline missions could not be declined without a large standings loss, I got given that 10 parts sequence with a final battle. Of course every mission went well till the last, that naturally HAD to send me 8 jumps away and in low sec. When I was about to kill the last 2 ships, a Vaga suddenly appeared and killed me, despite my rabid directional scanning. Boogie Bobby	Posted - 2010.05.28 10:01:00 - [13] Lost a Domi with A Type LAR and 2x X type hardeners and a variety of other cheaper faction mods fitted. I checked the KM to see how bad the loss was and the only expensive mod that made it out was an A type membrane worth ~30 mil.

Almost lost a Drake three days ago because I warped out and switched to my mining character - only to find out I was scrambled. When I got back I was still at 10% shield (passive tanking ftw!) and managed to kill the responsible frigate and got out with just slightly red armor. Still didn't know after 3 months of playing that NPCs also warp scrambled!
Jagga Spikes Minmatar Spikes Chop Shop	Posted - 2010.05.28 10:19:00 - [15] lost a fitted and rigged drake in L3. combination of wrong resists and trying to warp out too late. it may have involved NPC scrams, but it would be secondary to former bad decisions. lost a fitted and rigged domi in L4. combination of being trigger happy and, again, slow on warp out. otherwise, lost bunch of shuttles and frigates, and few cruisers, but nothing fancy. i'd say i'm rather cautious. :) even managed to keep my first (underskilled) raven alive (only to give to corpie, who promptly wrecked it in WC). ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel
TriIIian	Posted - 2010.05.28 10:33:00 - [16] Lost a CN fit CNR worth a little over a bil in a stupid rouge drone mission. Could tank that mission all day now. Lost nealry all my isk on that baby. Then a couple months later got ganked and lost it all over again. Couldnt look at my toon after that it was to depresing thinking about all the isk I had worked for and lost. Sold that toon. I have lost a few cheap pvp ships since then but havent lost a mission ship since.

He logged off in the middle of the mission, and his whole complaint was that the ship failed to warp, hence he was petitioning its loss. We laughed. A lot.

In the first room I was totaly annihilating the opposition with my 330 dps and 80 dps + 1000m/s tank. Second room was not as easy to control transversal, especially as I tried to ram those interceptors to death. 200m/s max speed and incomming fire from everything i made my wolf a sad story. I was doing The Blockade lvl3 without reading up on it and managed to hit every single trigger one after the other, leading to a massive blob of npcs. I then didn't have the sense to warp out as soon as I should have. I also lost my first Raven the first time I took it out (can you see a pattern developing here?) I was running Worlds Collide and didn't realise I was being warp scrambled until my tank had almost failed.

As for the mods -> loss of 2 commander tachyons 1.2bil each and gist x-type xlarge shield booster. I really enjoyed testing some new wicked setups for lvl5s even if it meant risking expensive stuff from time to time but now after forcing almost all lvl5s to lowsec, I'll stop buying fancy stuff and ships because there will be virtually no possibility to test it. thank you CCP (sigh...) ps. Now i'm just wondering who is going to buy fancy commander mods for the prices before the patch.

night watchmen	Posted - 2010.05.29 20:49:00 - [29] Lol, just experienced my first near miss with fully faction fitted Tengu, bar T2 Heavy missiles on a lvl4. Part 2 or 2 warped in sentry towers, heavy missle towers and cruise missle towers (heavy dps). Dismissed the mission guide warning with "the it'll be alright" mentality - nearly bit me in the *rse lol. luckily no warp scrams :) - lesson learnt.

I was trying to make a mini-domi to blitz L1/L2 missions for a different corp and ended up completely AFKing L2 Recon without realizing what was happening. I start it up, release drones, kicking butt I watch some TV. Commercial comes on, so I turn back to an explosion that looks almost familiar... why am I in a pod? wait, what mission was this? :P Decided to upgrade to a myrm, just to give me a few more minutes and chances to realize "oh crap, thats a lot of angry reds".
