We have more Windows Mobile users than Blackberry? Shocking. I didn't expect to have so many Android users. This poll after all was really helpful for me to determine which platform to target for future EVE apps.

This poll seems skewed. Only geeks and fancy-pants phone users?
I have a Nokia N97 so that'd be Symbian OS. And I'll consider the next phone they release after the N900 and that uses their new Maemo system.

PS - what happened to that open source phone people were talking about awhile ago? I think it was linux based perhaps?

Besides the first eve apps were for WinMo. I also use my trusty old SE phones cus they're dependable and the battery lasts forever.

Android 1.5 on Sprint branded Samsung Moment. Love the OS, Love the Hardware. CANNOT RECOMMEND THE SPRINT 12V POWER PLUG. It wrecked 2 of my phones in 4 weeks. Got a Samsung branded 12v plug and its worked perfect for a month.

Android 2.2 Froyo on Moto Droid.
I think you'll find that the numbers are fairly heavily skewed to forum-goers. I'm willing to bet that the iPhone still dominates, for now. The features are close enough that service rates and coverage area is likely more of a reason to get either one than specific device features for most people. That's becoming an interesting playing field because AT&T and Verizon are both adjusting their data rates. You can expect Sprint and T-Mobile to follow suite if this becomes a popular thing.
That being said, both iOS and Android are fairly strong development platforms. I find Android's documentation to be far superior to Apple's. Not having to own a Mac to develop (let alone pay $99) is fairly attractive, not to mention Objective-C being...ugh. Unfortunately Apple has made it all but impossible to create cross-platform applications that also work on their OS. Perhaps doing most of the heavy lifting with C libraries you could create apps that are different only in their UI code. Unfortunately UI code seems to be the majority of the code necessary for the kinds of apps created for these platforms.
