Just directing a little traffic back to my old CS community, but this is some major BS.
DooM movie that has nothing to do with marines, mars or more importantly Hell. What a crock of poodoo.

A growing trend is producers running out of ideas. Now they just take games/old ideas and ruin them. ---

Yep, kind of like EA Games with C&C Generals. Just had a vague resemblence to Warcraft, er I mean Command & Conquer.
I hate these people. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Quote: Doom movie - No Marines, No Hell, No Demons
So it's not a Doom movie. They're just using the Doom name to hype a second rate film they probably wrote on the back of a cigarette packet during an extended lunch break...
...probably!

Relevant (and safe) bits from Penny Arcade:
Originally by: "Penny Arcade"
In Entertainment news, it was revealed today that the Doom movie does not take place on Mars, and features no hell demons.
When asked for comment, script author David Callahan made the sound of a Choo-Choo train suggesting that all present quote "Get Aboard."
In other news, look out for the Metroid movie, about a rowdy team of baseball players who discover the true meaning of Christmas from a robot coyboy angel.

I love Penny Arcade, it's got a permanent place in my bookmark list and I never miss a strip. It's just that most of the time their comics are not safe to be linked from the forums of a teen rated computer game

uhhhh... assuming these 'children' can use a computer enough to get here, log in, and post, Google is presumably not beyond their capabilities. How is linking to "Penny Arcade" any different than simply saying the phrase "Penny Arcade?" If the site itself has objectionable content, then one hopes - as with television or movies - the parents of said children are perfectly capable of controlling where they can or can't go, and the shirking of parental responsibility is no reason to pretend to censor something.
That was just odd
PS yes i have a kid of my own, thanks

A DOOM movie that has no marines, no hell, no basis in the original ideas set forth by id software, can equally translate out to = Me not buying a ticket to go see the movie. The thing is, the movie studios need to realize that they need to stop taking properties they want to make into movies and changing core essential ideas of said properties, to make them more appealing to your casual movie going audience. That said though, I can understand why they do it in the first place, initial recoup of investment being the number one reason. They want to get as many of the casual movie audience in to see it as possible, thereby crippling or changing things to suit that.
But, stripping out main basic themes or characters or whathaveyou, really ruins alot of movies based on video-games/comic books. For example, I thought the alien vs predator movie here recently was horrible from a fan perspective of those graphic novels, but, on the other hand, i enjoyed it for its special effects particularly its fight scenes. And as an example of some good ones, I liked the two spiderman movies, as well as the two x-men movies, Which for the most part pretty much stuck to its original ideas set by its comics. Ok, my movie industry critique is over now. lol

Edited by: Istvaan Shogaatsu on 11/12/2004 19:33:57 DOOM: THE MOVIE. Come watch this romantic teen drama starring Freddie Prinze Jr. as "The Marine", and introducing Hillary Duff playing the part of the screaming spider-brood mother "Vagary"! It's an unlikely match made in heaven as The Marine takes a cruise to a vacation resort on Mars to meet his rich uncle, Councillor Swann! (Played by Eugene Levy) and meets a spider with a heart! Will the teen dream Marine and the psychokinetic Vagary stop the evil Dr. Malcolm Betruger (Played by Rob Schneider of "The Animal" fame!) from taking over uncle Swann's business? You can't miss this exciting summer blockbuster, coming to theaters near you!
