Edited by: Halikai on 01/06/2010 17:44:04 I recently lost a fitted and rigged Raven (standard) trying to fight through this mission.
I realized too late that my tank wasn't going to hold up, bad decision upon bad decision led me to the failure.
I didn't realize that the groups would reset after down time, and cancelled the mission and took the corp / faction standings hit.
All that aside...
What ships (Caldari) would be recommended for speed tanking the mission? I can't afford another failure, need to have a ship to blitz this one.
Oh, and I'm running missions for an Amarr L4 Q18 agent so I figure the Blood Raider variant will appear again.
Thoughts??

Any fast frig with a bit of buffer. Don't bother killing, just blitz it.

Shuttle works for Recon 1 and Recon 2. And before anyone asks, no, there's no need to insure the shuttle.

A shuttle is actually fast enough to survive... I hadn't even considered the shuttle an option... interesting.
No, I wouldn't bother insuring a shuttle, they're still really cheap.
Thanks!

I use my Aba with an AB and short range fitting (Pulse). During this 25? km to the gate I kill the first 3 enemies only, warp to pocket 2, then warp home. 3 minutes .. all done.

If you have a friend or a second account (or the ship, fit and skills to do it solo) it's pretty good ISK, though. Some eight mil in bounties in 10 mins is sweet.

I do it solo in an Abaddon. I think the key to this mission is your damage output: if you manage to kill the spawns fast, incoming DPS is not that high.
And yes, bounties are fat

Why would you pass up one of the highest paying missions out there? Your skills must be poor or your fitting was awful. I don't think there's even any tacklers in the first pocket. Did you forget you could warp in combat or what?
A raven is perfectly fine for this mission. What was your fitting?
But for the record, I only changed my sig because I was annoying myself with the last one.

1. - Depended on a Tank that was failing once NOS'd - wasn't paying close enough attention 2. - Because of #1 didn't align to warp out in case of emergency. Once I realized I was in trouble it was too late

I am training Cruise 5 currently, that'll give me T2 launchers and higher ROF which would have helped.
That and changing the tactics to align right after arrival so I can get out in a hurry.
In the end I think I just wasn't ready to try to fight through that mission, and realized it too late (160m isk too late)

Since perma-tanking with an large shield booster (LSB) didn't work, you may want to try replacing the LSB and cap modules & rigs with an XL SB, a cap booster, rigor rigs (better damage,) one more BCS and maybe a damage control module or power diagnostic system.
When you upgrade to T2 launchers, you'll want to fit a single Target Painter to help with Fury missiles (probably in place of one of the SBAs.)

I like to keep a fast frig in all my mission stations. Works for blitzing recons, that one "cargo delivery" mission, and some quick couriers.
Just look for the T1 version of your race's interceptors, slap some speed rigs, overdrives, an afterburner, and as many shield extenders as you can fit and you are good to go.
Oh, and your raven fit sucks. Try this one instead.

i love recon ! my favorite mission , well bloodraider version =), and i like to blow up everything the trick is pretty simple, warp in , launch your light drones (i use hobgos but warrior got better tank) , set them to passive and dont use them, blow up the first spawn specially the elite cruiser with neuts ... enjoy your easy mission =p, most spawn agro drones so you dont even have to tank

Don't you end up losing the drones, or because they're lights do the Battleships have a hard time actually hitting them? Just trying to understand the tactic.
Don't the cruisers fry them?

I tried to duplicate that fit in EFT.
I must be missing something, but I can't get that to fit at all. Over on CPU usage by 5%.
Am I missing a base skill someplace?

Had the same problem as you few days ago, i messed up because i went with my overtanked BS and taught i could do it brutor style, but i didn't loose ship, got that mission last night again and blitzed it. I don't think killing npc in those missions is very smart in fact, it's a recon mission. Also for recon 1/3 the problem isn't much the tanking but the fact you have to kill each wave before the next spawn, so its more the massive dps you would need imo.

Fit is fine in EFT for me. Try changing all skills to V?
You are possibly missing AWU to V on your character. This is a max cpu skills fit only it seems.

Your fit is fine. When you have T2 launchers bring some T2 missiles as well. They are perfect against BSs.

Try maybe one CPU Implant, AWU only helps with reduction of PG requirements.

nope , even the slow pokes hobgos do fine , drones can withstand 2 hit, if by chance one of your drones get shot just scoop it , if you are a bit low on ISK use t1 warriors think they'll do just fine, cruiser BCs got carpy range to hit them from their spawns and i try blow them up ASAP

The Liang fit is decent enough, though for the case of Blood Recon 1, I'd suggest swapping out the Painter for another TH hardener and the two utility highs for large autocannons (if you can fit them). The two biggest Raven weakness (vs the CNR) is buffer and dps, where everything else is identical.
If you intend to clear all the pocket with the vanilla Raven, then more toughness is preferable over 1-2 volley efficiency at damaging cruisers. The BSes in the first pocket will murder your tank, thus forcing you use a considerable amount of cap boosters to keep it alive if you don't kill them fast. That said, the primary target should always always always always be the NOsing elite cruisers - regardless if you have to take fire from BSes when doing so.

Found the troubling skill for the Liang fit.
Launcher Rigging
I currently have it at 1, need to run it up.
