The answer is unknown.
Probably because paying for subs without rl money is super convenient.
(as for alts, theres no realistic way to stop someone from having them)
Or the Character bazaar for that matter both concepts I don't like. |

In twitch-based mmos, you can't really get the upper hand through alts, because you've got to move and spam skills. Well, you can multi-box the same setup and trigger the same action on all of them at once, but then it's really obvious for the opponent that he's facing Team Wizzy or 25 shamen. In EvE, you can have an offgrid boosting alt, and just let your falcon alt/remote repping alt orbit your ship, press F1 Fx once and you're done.
Online alts really must be flagged ingame as belonging to the same player/IP. For now, they can be used to escape consequences and be cheesy as hell.
What would you prefer to face, assuming you control only one character:
- Some dude with an offgrid boosting alt, a remote repping alt, a falcon alt? - Some altless dude who spent PLEX on officer/faction gear?
There's one scenario where you can get the upper hand -or get away-, through superior piloting skills, can you guess which it is?
I think "win" is the operative word here. Just having the ships, modules and even skill points doesn't mean jack unless you have a sound grip on the gameplay / game mechanics. The real win is figuring out how to relieve the poor bastard of the assets he / she poured into the game with the expectation of having an advantage. Think of it as a means of redistributing wealth.
The same could be said of gold ammo, if you don't know how to point your tank and aim a shot then the gold ammo won't help you. Saying that being able to pay for a character with the skillpoints to handle an OP ship you buy all with plex bought with RL money isn't pay to win because they "might not" have the knowledge of how to use them is just wrong. You can say its not anything you couldn't earn in game and I'd agree with you but it does take away the time you have to spend otherwise to earn it. |

You aren't going to get any of these people to admit anything, you should give it up. Lets just say you can use RL money to buy plex to get past the need to earn skills and equipment, or alternate account funding in game like someone who doesn't buy plex with RL money. They will tell you thats not PayTo Win and you won't get them to admit it is no matter what you say. The question is moot really since Eve is an unfair universe to start with and no one can ever really win it, its just a survival thing. |

Ok the 16 mil sp character that someone bought doesn't have an advantage over another 16 mil sp character, but the week old player that bought a 16 mil sp character with RL money spent on plex does have an advantage over the week old character that didn't buy his character. It may not be PTW but its using out of games means to gain in game advantage. Call it what you will. I think of it as a cheat. |

I'd be fine with that if the week old player that bought his 16 mil sp charcater had used ingame methods to get his plex but he didn't he used out of game methods, and thats a very savy player that at one week has figured out how to make the isk to buy a 16 mil sp character in game. |

Goon newbies do it every week, people are so keen to give their money away....
Well then maybe the players of this game aren't as smart as they like to say they are compared to other mmo players. |
