OK...I've been robbed while afk mining in the past...not a biggie, but I don't understand why Concord shoots your a&& when you fire at someone who's stolen from you in a high security zone.
Those that afk mine have no way of getting back at those theiving little bastards except maybe running into them by chance in 0.0 areas.
Is it too much for you to be flagged as a thief once you steal from someone so you can be shot at?
Yeah yeah...secure container...but have you NOTICED that they don't hold very much?

Not only don't they hold very much, but combined with their anchoring restrictions means they're pretty much useless for mining IMO, but that's a discussion for another thread.
Simple fact is that once you jettison ore, it's no longer considered "yours" in any way shape or form. That means that anyone can just waltz up and take it from right under your nose. If you try and fire, or do anything aggressive, you'll get ganked by Concord. It's not a point of criminal flagging, as the ore hasn't been yours since it left your cargohold.
Sucks, but there it is. Join the petition for bigger secure containers and a removal of the anchoring restrictions.

Wait, you have been robbed while AFK mining? The only type of AFK mining I know of is with an indy. If you are AFK mining into a jet can, then you are an EXPLOITER WHO IS USING A MACRO! BAN TIME, SERIOUSLY, BAN THIS GUY! -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Kalric,
Would you like to explain what you mean when you say that you put ore into a jet-can while you were afk? Perhaps that is not the part of the process that you meant you were doing afk. In which case, an explanation could get your thread back on track. Otherwise, you'd best quickly review the EULA with regard to macros.

LOL - Using Apoc to mine and dumping into can....boss walked in and had to close it out. By the time I got back most was gone. There...ya happy? And no...I don't use Macros...they suck, and unless you're an UBER-GEEK...I can't figure them out.

Oh...and to clarify...I didn't mean AFK mining...I meant those that mine..dump into a can and then haul it when the can if finally full.
I guess Juniper answered the question for me....I didn't think about when you jettison a can, then you are relinquishing ownership. Only secure cans are considered yours....thanks for the clarification.

Kalric,
The Dev's have promised to change this system. A new ownership system for jet cans was supposed to go into effect with Exodus, but it got postponed. Miners now waiting with great anticipation for change, hoping it will make it possible to kill ore thieves. Give us something more fun to do than moving secure cans around every 10 minutes.

Except professional thieves will just work in two man teams, one in a combat ship and the other in an indy. CCP have said that criminal flagging will allow the thief to fire back when fired upon. Oh and expect flagging to be used to grief poor noobs ("yeah you can have whatever is in that can"). --------------------------------------------------
