I love the Myrmidon quite a bit. I can solo level 4 missions with ease and almost solo-tanked a level 5 (I cleared one room and lasted about 20 minutes in the other until I mis-judged and went ka-boom; I didn't even know it was a level 5 as it was a corp mate's story mission).
It's such an awesome ship and my current path takes me to command ships but I'd really like to see a Myrmidon tech II rather than a Brutix.
Any thoughts?

I would rather them buff the racial CS to be significantly better than Tier 2 BC's instead of worse than T3 cruisers....
You know, the way it SHOULD be.

To be fair, that would mean that CCP should also implement T2 variants of the Hurricane, Harbinger, and Drake as well...
However, as of now, there is a severe disparity between the performance of the Eos/Astarte and the other race's command ships. Perhaps they should make improvements to what they already have instead of adding more shiny to the game.

Hell, I only read about how bad gallente ships are compared to other races'...I'm gallente in my heart, but may start thinking about training other racial ships and focus on them...

Ishtar, Gila, Rattlesnake and Dominix (and proteus to some extent) are your next solution, not command ships.
On the other hand, caldari have nighthawk, tengu, golem or CNR to upgrade from a Drake, but no hac and no faction ships.
That's quite balanced imo.

Don't worry, they'll get buffed eventually, and then you'll be glad that you had them trained up. Just keep waiting, I believe it only took amaar about 3 years...

My main is Gallente. To be honest, Gallente have some pretty solid ships such as the Taranis, Ishkur, Ishtar, Myrmidon, and Dominix. I've also had decent success with a full gank, shield-buffered brutix. However, I'm cross-training Caldari to be honest. The Drake, along with the possibility of a Rattlesnake, is a very enticing offer from the Caldari line up.
EDIT: Fixed my fail quoting ability.

The Gallente tech 1 line up is great. All of the ships are useful and competitive. The t2 line up, not so much. It's mostly problems with Blasters in specialised roles, with exception to the Taranis (The Deimos/Astarte are horrible).

Edited by: Sonya Kranz on 07/06/2010 15:33:57 There are some more good Tech 2 gallente ships besides the taranis, but those are basically ishtar & ishkur. The kronos isnt that bad either, but most other ships are not so good.
Astarte for example, its defenitely not a horrible ship like you claim, but its far inferior to its counterparts from other races. Not so much because of the ship itself, but mostly because of the way blasters work.

I'd like to see this build. I love my Myrm. Its a tank, can snooze through L3, but the few L4's Ive tried with it. its been harry to say the least.
I wont tsee a tech 3 ship, for a VERY long time.

Passive shield myrm gets 355 hp/s regen, a full tank drake with all sprs and no bcs gets 235 hp/s. Being a droneboat, Myrm won't need damage mods in lows, a useful drake would need at least 2, dropping regen much lower than 235 hp/s.
As for t2, they can't really introduce t2 version for only one faction. T2 Myrm would mean t2 drake. Every noob and their mother would have one.

Or the nerf bat to teh drake and then a reasonable extension into tech 2. OR make the drake the Tech 2 and nerf in a new one.
But your point is taken. The Myrm while awesome didn't make the development chain for the Gallentee. Must not have been UGLY enough.

I'd love a covops verson as t2 tier2 BC.
They would fill a very nice niche as a solo, single ship plexrunner in pvp and as a hunter-killer prober in pvp.
They would be quite reasonable too if they had less damage than t1-versions.

I like the idea. More ship more variations in to the game. I would really like to see more t1 bs's in the game as well, 3bs type class ships per race in 7 years is is too few for example. And ofc more t1 frigs and t1 cruisers!

Edited by: Sonya Kranz on 08/06/2010 11:07:47 That cov ops BC idea is a pretty interesting one yeah
The chances that were going to see those tier 2 battlecruiser in some other tech 2 role then combat are pretty large i think, since we dont really need an even more powerful nighthawk or sleipnir.
theres a few roles possible, but i guess they have to careful not to make any other ships obsolete.

Oh no, they took away 2 heavy drones!
It's far from useless. It has a better armor tank than a drake's shield tank and tons of drone space.

well as the game is moving forward always changing. Of course there will never be a perfect time to add or remove things.
But it wont hurt anything to add a few more ship in game So what if some ships get used less and some will be better, thats how things always will be anyway.

I submit to you the recent changes to pirate ships. This essentially added twelve "new" ships to the game (Sansha ships were already fine; the others were almost universally loltastic). And the balance on them... leaves something to be desired.
Adding new ships isn't as trivial as all that. As much as I'd love an even-better-looking Myrm or an EoM Arbitrator I'm not holding my breath.
And no one has suggested a viable role for a T2 tier 2 BC anyhow. Maybe I'm just not creative enough, but I certainly can't find one. Making them absolute pwnmobiles won't work for any number of reasons. The whole gang bonus thing has been tried. Advanced logistics kinda steps on, you know, logistics. Ditto recons. Ditto probers in general. Offensive gang mods have been tossed around but would be absolute hell to balance.
So what would they do?

Could make T2 Tier 2 BC's into mobile cyno jamming ships. They would have a module similar to a siege or triage module that would be the cyno jammer. Base jamming would be 100km plus 10% per level of cyno jamming skill. Activating the module would require a fuel say for instance strontium to run the module. And the ship would be immobile as well during the jamming cycle.

They added T3 ships.
Because CCP team knows that they or anyone will never be able to find a unique role for everyship that fits the old balance system for the ships. But that does not mean they religiously need to follow the old balance system. For example "T2 Commandship tier 2" does not necessarily need to follow the command bonus system on the T2 commandship tier 1 commandship. And most important of all it does not break a balace system that never been or can favour all ships anyway. I mean not even in realworld nature we have a system\systems that benefit all to satisfaction. So dont expect any different in a computer game. It's a waste of time trying to get all ships to be equal. And they know it so adding a few more bs and bc's wont hurt
3 standard bs class ships per race in 7 years thats too few ships!

Your missing out on a few key facts though.
With the 25% bonus to shield resists, a smart Drake pilot can fit 3 BCS to a drake while still EASILY having enough tank with purger rigs and hardeners to complete ANY L4 without warping.
The reason is, due to the 25% bonus to shield resists, it can have a much lower regen rate, while still having a more effective tank, AND having more consistent, longer range, harder hitting damage.
