No, they do not suck. Properly fitted and properly piloted amarr ships do very well in pvp. But they are not fotm anymore.
Btw you wont see many properly fitted amarr ships in at - only if you are looking for shield tanked abaddons or single mar guardians...
/true is, that aliance tournament pvp different from tranquility pvp... but not that different you should fit shield tank to baddon lol/

Also ishtar can do this better because it can project same dps as zealot to 80k+, do dualprop or even bring some ewar while receiving only slighly less efficient rr.

If you looked at the linked killboard, you would see it was armored hac gang, not sniping hac gang.

Ishtars in armor hacs gangs use sentrys, heavy drones are too slow.
And ishtar with gardes will have around 500dps at 40k, with bouncers 420 dps at 80k. With one sentry rig, not counting any turrets.
Armored zealot can do around 400dps at 35k with scorch, 500 with mf.
Advantage of zealot is better resist profile /= more efficient rr/, but ishtar has better range, can reach enemy ewar, is less vulnerable to it and can even bring some ewar to own gang /even if its HARD to fit because of cpu/.

I agree zealot is great ship, but amazing sniper? Pretty on par with munnin, they are just different, many times i got in situation where that 3x higher alpha would make difference...
Same with pulse zealot and ishtar for armor hac gangs. They all have advantages and disadvantages and none is clearly better for all situations.
Also im pretty sure you wont get 50k optimal with pulse zealot when its armor buffered for some logi love.
