Also Football is a sport where the majority of the team actually kicks the ball with their foot, unlike Handegg where they run around with it under about 2 stone's worth of padding.

Both types (rugby family and what for the sake of the argument I'll call soccer here) are called football because, as commoners' sports, they were played on foot as opposed to polo, which was the nobility's sport of choice back in the day :P.

this system really could be better.
we cleared the field, completely destroyed our opponents without a single loss.
and we get placed 30th.
surely winning with full points and fewer (or no) losses should be ranked higher than winning with full points but losing most of your ships on the way?
...well, those swiss have always been a bit silly...

Or it just means you had a really weak opponent, I mean take ROL's match for instance, their opponents were awful, not very impressive wiping that team out with no losses..
Who's ranked where isn't that important anyway as long as you advance, at least this way the system rewards the fighters who provide the largest number of pretty explosions in their match

I think John Cleese said best what is and what isn't footbal.
You should stop playing American football.
There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American football is not a very good game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays American football.
You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American "football", but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like nancies).
We are hoping to get together at least a US Rugby sevens side by 2005. You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the 'World Series' for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.15% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders,your error is understandable. Instead of baseball, you will be allowed to play a girls' game called rounders, which is baseball without fancy team strip, oversized gloves, collector cards or hotdogs

Technically baseball is big in Cuba and Japan, but I'll agree with you that it isn't very interesting to watch, but then again neither is football
