Bah, the Amarr have always managed to thrive simply through theocratic loopholes and hypocritical dogma, a race of hypocrites who simply choose to turn a blind eye to that which they don't want to see but is staring them right in the face. The persecution and subjugation of others is perfectly fine as long as they themselves aren't the ones being persecuted and subjugated, yet the irony of it all is that they themselves are actually the slaves. Trying to reason with or understand not just megalomaniacs but IDEALISTIC, HYPOCRITICAL megalomaniacs is futile.
The Amarr are a race of people strikingly similar to a race that existed eons ago on a planet called Earth; they followed a "religion" called Islam and subsequently killed each other off due to intolerance of free-thinking.
Does that mean that the Amarr are mean, evil people? No, at least not all of them...they're just not to be trusted. They will always side with their invisible god in the sky and their schizophrenic goddess and call it divine guidance rather than face reality.

Well said, and all points noted. It would be remiss to lump all Amarr into a single entity, like a collective hive-mind; as you have said, there are many, many people in the Amarr empire who choose to follow their own path, albeit said path is more of a tightrope.
I shouldn't neglect to say that I am neither for nor against the Amarr; I really don't care about their religious zealotry and whether or not they have slaves. What I am talking about has more to do with honesty. If the Amarr would just come out and say, "Yes, we hide behind our religion in order to justify our way of life, and we really like having slaves because we love power and love holding that power over other people..." then I would have a completely different opinion. Whatever floats your frigate is fine with me...sure, it sucks to be a slave but oh well.
I'm calling on the Amarr not so much to change their ways, but to stop hiding behind them and own up to it.

What fragmentary historical foundations we have for Amarr's theology identify the "religion" in question as "Unified Catholic."
Timeline
Yes, but those drones went through two enlightenments and eventually the people eradicated the religion by simply not needing it anymore, not eradicating each other like that ancient desert hypocrisy.
