I feel for you CCP. However you were clearly screwed the second you mentioned having a dev blog coming out.
Post up information that turns out to be false your in trouble.
Post up a blog that says great news we are working on it, no one believes you.
Better not to have put the expectation out there at all then either of these options, no?
On the other hand, I choose to give you the benefit of the doubt. (I am unsure why, but there we are )
I will give some feed back for you.
I've tried to become involved in as many facete's of EVE as I can, and I have been part of all the communities here is what I hear. (bare in mind its only a small chunk of what there is to hear though)
Null Sec community, they want it fixed, SOV/POS warfare that works, and by works no one really knows how it should work, they just know this isn't it.
The Null Sec community that isn't the massive power blocs would like Supers to be reduced in capabilities and make it so that holding Sov is open to more people not just alliances with the biggest bank roll or the most shiny ships.
Fix the damn lag already, more fights are determined by lag then tatics, this is bad. Also why rely on people fill out forms for when a battle is expected? You have the sov timers you know when and where most big fights are likely to take place, put in re-enforced nodes in anticipation. Yes if a genuine fleet fight is expected off of timer I get it, but not otherwise.
The High-sec community would like more features and more opportunities then running Lvl 4's in boredom, and more paths to choose, be it via more content, a diferent direction entirely or more profit. A lot more of this community are soloer's so maybe somethings that can be done alone, but are better as a team would be good.
Also fix mining but be careful how you do it, it is long overdue, mining profession may as well not exist, however the market is fragile ships can't really be much more expensive then they already are.
This aside, the learning curve to bring in new players was huge, I tried to get a friend into EVE, he struggled even with my support, you are relying on your customer base to bring in more customers, fine, better make good word of mouth priority one then huh. Maybe you need to have live GM's running lvl 1 missioning fleets, get players involved in team play early on and sink some resources into helping the new guy.
Low-Sec dwellers want to be involved in PVP I'm sure most would like to be in Null-Sec but the current mechanic prohibit this so they stay in low-sec and get by how they can. Other Low-sec citizens are there for the ISK/POS construction etc.
Lvl 5's fine, but considering that generally these are run in fleets you need to distribute rewards to everyone in the fleet not just the person who took the mission and if you want more of these run the rewards need to be increased as the risk is too high for what you get.
From Pirates point of view, make more low-sec useful so that more prey come into the area.
Covert Ops, they need some love, this is a great gurellia warfare feature to allow smaller groups to tangle with large fleets without being squashed by the blob, but the black ops is useless in it's current form, I understand you have angled as a non-combat ship, that's cool, make it able to warp cloaked, increase it's range slightly, so that it can make a jump between two region gate distances and lessen the portalling fuel requirements by a factor of 10. Or alternatively actually make them useful in combat. Or make them cheaper (rather not this option).
Local provides a huge intel bonuses, delaying local in Null sec even so it updates once every 5 mins unpredictably on a cycle will provide interesting mechanics and mean many more fleet engagements occur and at least force better scouting from fleets.
Just a few ideas, we all beg you to follow through on your word this time CCP. |
