Edited by: Nitrous Nine on 11/06/2010 14:54:53 Hey I was wondering, do planets regenerate resources over time, or do they have a finite amount of resources? To put the question a different way, 1 year from now what do you think the odds are that it be hard to find planets that haven't been totally depleted?
Thanks!

Yeah, planets have finite resources and in a few months every POS in EVE will run out of fuel and civilization will collapse . Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie

Do you know if it's documented anywhere? I've been searching and I haven't been able to find any facts around resource regeneration. What is known about it?
Thanks!

No one knows for sure yet, and there was been quite a bit of speculation about this, but you don't need to worry that the planets will ever run out of resources.
There is a maximum number of people that can colonize a planet but the number is unknown, but way up there. Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie

Originally by: CCP Incognito There appears to be some wrong information floating around.
A) Yes there is depletion, the more extractors that are in an area the faster a resource depletes. How fast depends on how many extractors and what kind of deposits you use. There is a 'ideal' number of players for each planet based on factors I am not going to reveal. B) Resource regenerate over time. C) There is a minimum resource level, it is defined as a percentage of the initial un-depleted value. D) There is no redistribution of resources, it works like a hole. You dig a hole with extractors and it fills back in over time. If you dig at the same rate as it refills the hole it will never empty.
Hope this clears things up.

Thank you Qoi! This is exactly what I was looking for. CCP could prevent the spread of "wrong information" from floating around if they would include this very important information in the official PI documentation.
Thanks
