Edited by: Turiel Demon on 12/12/2004 17:21:55 Ehm, I'm pretty new to this, less than 1 month into the game, but I'm told by my corpmates that implants are drasticaly increasing in price, now that I've gotten to a stage that I'm considering using them.
So, no more implants from agents, fine, ok, where DO they come from then? Are there any implants still entering the game or are the prices going to head for 213B isk for an intel+1 in the next few weeks?
And why isn't perception as heavily effected? same level of bonus perception implants don't seem to cost nearly as much as the other atribute implants. ------------
/me wants a restart firing after reload macro to save some effort when shooting at stations for hour after hour after hour... (EEEP! don't ban me!!!111oneoneone) |

Edited by: Serem on 12/12/2004 17:39:12 You can still get implants via agent offers. But for a +3 implant you'll have to invest a massive amount of loyalty points. Another source are storyline missions, but i only received +1 implants in storyline missions so far. Pre castor alot of people did kill missions. NPC corps that offered these missions mostly dished out perception implants. That's why these implants are still far more common than other implants.

Yeah saw that Drunk, might be interesting, but back on topic I'm quite worried about implant price inflation.
Should I borow money now to buy +3 implants 'cheap' at 55mil?
Heh, corner the market for when they're worth billions ;) ------------

I believe one of the devs said something somewhere about the level '3' storyline missions being bugged, as in where you get missions offered by level 1 agents in stead a level 3 agent. Once this is fixed, implant prices will most likely drop again.

This is most definiately a bug. The devs just have their hands full at the moment with other more important issues I guess. If I were you I would definiately wait. Regarding the perception implants then they probably still drop as loot in many kill missions so that would explain why they haven't increased as much in price. Most players use navy agents and therefore the flow of perception implants has always been much greater than with any other type of implant.

If I remember my schooling/literature correctly, "wherefore art thou, Romeo?" actually means why are you called Romeo Montague, as the Montagues were the sworn enemies of the Capulet family, and she loves her enemy's son.
Sorry, no relevance to the thread, just being very anal and bored and unsleepy because I had a disgusting lie-in this morning!
As to the implants, I want them too but the the prices are disgusting, I hope it's just a bug as I haven't had any in a long time!

Heh, yes Supay, I am aware that the title isn't exactly perfectly analogoes to the shakespearean sentance, but it just popped into my head.
I almost called it 'here implant implant implant!' but felt it was slightly too repetative
Anyway, I have been advised to wait for prices to trop by various parties, as there will probably be some sort of new implain influx, be it missions or some other means the devs put into effect. So I'll wait ------------

The important-missions not dropping better implants is a bug but you still get them as agentoffers. What worries me is the price set for those. I got offered a +2 willpower implant for 20k loyaltypoint plus some stuff and I saw in the missions forum someone had been offered a +3 charisma for 70k loyaltypoints + stuff. Now in the missionforum the dev responsible for agentmissions stated (amongst other things in an excellent walkthrough of new things in exodus) that their goal is to have 1 loyaltypoint equal thousand isks. This seems correct when you look at the offers one get for exchanging loyaltypoints for cash only.
This means that if the two cases above are representative they've just set a baseprice of 20 million for +2 implants and 70 million for +3 implants. Plus whatever price people feel makes it worth the trouble to acquire the semi-rare items the agent often requests in addition to loyaltypoints. And unlike with fixed missionrewards that you have to accept and then try to sell at the best possible price agentrunners have a choice here. And economically rational people won't accept these unless they can get a bit more then those 20/70 million out of it since if they wait they'll eventually get to cooler stuff like faction ships that will no doubt command at least what the devs intended them to do. In fact even taking those "purely monetary reward"-offers will be way better once you've got your own implantneeds covered.
Which leaves us with two choices - either the devs really intend implants to cost about that much and in that case important missions getting fixed won't add too much as they will presumably yield few enough implants to keep it on par with these offers and implants will be this insanely expensive (though they certainly won't reach the billions you were afraid of above). The other option is that the loyaltypoint-costs of implantoffers needs to be slashed at least in half - probably a third. I certainly hope it's the latter... ------------------------- "Real Men Hull Tank" CCP Hammer |
