Because new players fly exhumers (t2 ships that cost 100mil+ each and take months to train)?
Why do I think that there will be more new players ganking (a catalyst gank fit takes a mighty 13 hours of training and costs 400k ISK) rather than being ganked (a Hulk takes around 5 months and 160mil ISK).

Sorry mate. The bottom of the food chain is the part of the chain that gets crapped on after the food has been eaten. Real industrial people will benefit from this more than they will lose (More people selling salvage from Hulks and more people buying Hulks), and real miners will just keep mining (if you can't figure out how to avoid getting ganked, you should buy many more accounts at have them mine ice during the vent, preferably in Domain), with less lolfailatmining people competing for the same high sec resources.
I recommend you just cancel your subscription, uninstall EVE.

People don't gank Hulks for the challenge... People gank them for the lols and for the isk. There's challenging pvp, and a majority of the people that participate in hulkageddon also do that, but it's got nothing to do with hulks:P
First 90 minutes: 54 Exhumers, 20 Barges, 3 Orcas, 1 industrial, 12 pods. First 13 Exhumers died within the first minute, at exactly 00:01.
