You should consider getting HAC V and Recon V sometime.

Average SP was mentioned in a QEN some time ago. It was way below 20m iirc. Also, the data won't tell much about the current situation. Customer retention has worsened a lot for CCP, so the average SP will have dropped significantly.

Yeah. It's not like we had a new PCU two weeks ago.

I did just start a third account. Theres a guy who has like 10 characters who's names all start with a z and are all spelling variations on the same thing. I've been ganked by a guy who claims to have 10 accounts. I know quite a few people with 3 accounts, most people have at least 2. Eve has like 2k real people playing it, they just keep buying new accounts. WHO THE HELL SELLS PLEXES JEEZ!

Worsening customer retention can be happening alongside a growing customer base. These two are not mutually exclusive.
And a declining retention rate really bad news even coupled with faster growth. The cost to acquire a new player/customer can be around 7 times higher than retaining one. And guess what will happen to that new customer very soon....

you know it's down hill for an mmo when the player numbers drop in the summer months, normally that's when they are booming. Signature removed for not being EVE related. Zymurgist |

I don't normally pass judgment on other people's skills but I couldn't help it. I see you have spent isk and time training things like Logistics, Marauders and Recon ships, yet you don't appear to have any real skills to go with them.
I would seriously suggest you dont train anymore ships and instead start training some of your engineering, mechanic and gunnery skills. 47 million sp is all well and good, but when its 47 million mostly pointless sp you might as well not have bothered tbh

Agree with this, I have around 80mil only fly amarr, but BS, HAC, Recon, CS all have maxed 100% skills. I have just started cross training and getting Curiser 5 on gal and min (since I got CS, HACs, Recon at 5) but well i am so far behind on other races weapons i feel its going to take a year or so to get good with new ships. Point being, sp dont really matter that much and those with high skill points only really have a fraction advantage ---------- ----

For Eve there's probably a fairly simple explanation. The total MMO market is a certain size. The older Eve gets, the larger % of the total market have already tried to get into Eve, and either become long-term subscribers or quit. As Eve is ultra-user-unfriendly, that translates into a smaller and smaller percentage of new subscribers being the kind of person who could ever get into it in the first place. If they could they'd be playing already. Add the fact that the older the game gets the more long-term players leave, and you get a pretty good explanation for why CCP is keen to develope a console extension of their IP aimed at a seperate, younger market.

This may surprise you but new people are born every day, and some of those eventually get into MMOs.

Unlikely popular beliefs. SP amount doesnt reallt matter much. A 5mio SP character can easily beat a 125mio one. Also having say 100mio SP doesnt even mean you are good at anything really.
It all depends on focus and how good YOU actually are. --------------------------------------

This is because EvE Online has a much older clientFle in general, so when ordinary MMO's gamers gets time off from school and can play all day EvE Online-gamers get vacation from work and is sadly(=P) expected to spend that time with their family =)

Yeah, you fail at understanding how demographics work. Remember, we're talking about a *change* in the retention rate.

Of course, it could also have the opposite effect: fewer people stick around, so only a bunch of high-SP people contribute to the average, thus driving it up.

Trying again..
Lets see, a character with 43500000 xp is ranked as 4448 (aprox) on eve board of the 15353 registered users. So if we use this:
4448 x 100 / 15353 = 28,9 %
You should be among the 30% best on EveBoard I think?

=/ I'll admit my Ewar skills are terrible. But with Logistics I fly a guardian. The only real way I see of improving my abilities in it are logistics V and Remote Armor repairing V so I would really consider that a waste. Whats wrong with my gunnery skills? Engineering I'm lacking in shield skills and I'm working on fixing that.

Edited by: Drykor on 21/06/2010 20:09:05 43M is way above average considering the amount of people that only play for a couple of months. But who cares anyway, at 43M SP you should be able to do most things you like, sure you can still improve but not like you need to hurry.
Your learning skills are poor though.

Why does it matter to you whether you are above or below average in total SP?
I never looked at my SP like that. My thought process for evaluating my chars has always been more like:
1) What ships can I fly, and what ships do I want this char to fly? 2) Does my SP allow me to fly those ships to within x percentage of their full potential? If not, fix that.
You can fly a bunch of stuff in a bunch of different roles right now. You've got a few areas where you can get good improvements quickly, like armor comps, gun specs, and thermodynamics to 4. But other than that I don't see why you would be unhappy with where you're at. You can fly a bunch of stuff. And you can fly it all well enough, from frig to BS, for SP not to be an excuse for failure in PvP. |
