Very good post Vegeta. I myself have been trying and testing various methods of helping people spend their isk
The two methods im currently using are not listed in your post, obviously it would be pretty bad business sense to post the details on here. Suffice to say if its done correctly many millions of isk can be made. In the last couple of weeks i've prolly made in the region of 500mil isk. Our "syndicate" has made billions in a short time.
I've tried to justify how people fall for these scams, in this instance there really is no excuse for it and really i can only put it down to two things, stupidity & haste. The thing which is even more suprising is te lack of hate mail "give me my stuff back". Makes you wonder if they have even noticed being scammed... We all play by our own rules, for me if i've scammed a new player or a CA member i'll always return the isk. Just funny how no one ever seems to notice. Its almost as if eveyone is flying around with billions of isk in their wallet. |

Edited by: Rasputin Baba on 14/12/2004 06:30:35 Here's my guess. People know better than to waste time to argue with a scammer alt once they notice they've been scammed, what good will it do to make you all giddy with your accomplishment by highlighting it even further?
Some people I suspect just flat out quit the game.

Meta-gaming is lame players who do it are lame and it kills games.
Yes its the person who is scammed who is at fault but it is still lame and its no more an art form than kicking a retarded kid to get his ice cream.
No I have never been scammed I just hate cheats/meta-gamers.

Altho scamming really ruins the game for other people... This was indeed a good read, much like the other articles posted on warcry. Looking forward to the next one.

I have been thinking about that guy two minutes and what to think about him.
And I would give him a medal for his text. Every Newby-CEO should read and sign the text. It is just a good read on how NOT TO GET SCAMMED.
Said that I wouldn't give him access even to my "Public" Hangar after reading his text and would really rethink his membership.
And now let me state something to all that wanna-be-scammers: You simply are not effective.
Clamouring about stealing 2.5bio in a half year sounds terrible childish because there would have been dozends of opportunities how to make much more money in the same time. Even mining Veldspar one hour a day would have made him many times richer (and I doubt someone of his character would mind script-mining 24/7).
If he had joined an 0.0-alliance he could have earned around 20 Billions by stripmining Arkonor three hours a day.
Or chaining NPCs, he should have earned 10 billions meanwhile while getting millions of m¦ great loot worth twice the bounties.
Even running lousy agent missions would made him incredible rich in comparison to a lousy 2.5 billions the same time.
Basically not only shame on you but also bad math on you.

Remember folks:
Scammers and other such scum should be ACTIVELY screwed with for the crime of existing.
Even if a scammer has never harmed you in any way, and has no intent of harming you, it is morally acceptable to screw him over. He is a scammer, he deserves it. He has justified anything you do to him by his choice to be scammer.

That's about the most ignorant and stupid post I have ever read on these forums. OF COURSE I could have made 200 billion ISK had I stripmined veldspar from day one, but since that's such a viable option why don't you go out and do that?
Didn't think so. What I and many others have done comes with little or no effort, you're talking about NPC hunting and mining for hours on-end, I'm a man not a machine, and a PVP'ing one at that.
I'm not boasting about having made 2.5 billion in my eve-carerr. I know lots have made more and had to do much less than I. I'm not the richest person out there but I get by.
I have fun by running my corporation and PVP'ing, not by NPC hunting and mining, fool.

lol, that is well stated indeed. Nice to see that other folks not only hate scammers, but also understand that they are NOT simply other players. Scammers are scum, and scum by deliberate choice. They should be actively screwed with when ever a chance presents itself (rare, sadly, but if happens, make him suffer).
If I see some thug kick a retarded kid to take his ice cream I'm not merely going think badly of him. If I can get away with it, a vicious beating would happen. More likely, I'd witness in court on assault charges. AND IT WOULD NOT END THERE. Tolerance is social crime when thugs and scammers are tolerated.

Dude..
But anyway, how did you get people to join your corp when they must know there's a great chance you're just going to nick off with everything on day 'because it takes little of no effort'?

No, it's nothing like that. My corporation doesn't work in such a way that I could really scam anybody out of anythimg, not that I'd want to.
It should be clear that I will follow whatever rules of whichever corporation/alliance I belong to, it is only right. It's not like I'm some type of immoral bastard who will screw anybody over just like that. I have friends within Eve whom I've known since day-1, friends where trust goes both ways.

Personal opinion:
A very interesting guide, and as someone said, this is the kind of information every CEO and rich player would benefit from reading.
It must be pointed out that if anyone is considering becoming a scammer they will most likely lead a very lonely life in EVE, and therefore it is a career that must be chosen after very careful thought. Then again, that playstyle might suit some people.
I would also like to remind everyone reading this that this is a game, a simulation. Before you start calling scammer 'scum', bear in mind that a game such as this is one where people can act in ways that they would never dream of acting in real life, and that is the game's purpose.
As a player, I would wholeheartedly say that after reading this (actually also before reading this, but lets pretend someone else posted it) I would never allow Vegeta into my corporation, and that is part of the game, and is why corporations have security procedures.
As a player I will do a lot to avoid scammers, and if I got caught out and I would probably try to arrange for that player to be hunted down, however I will not try and make out that said scammer is a dinoflagellate with sociopathic tendencies in real life.
