Players like that aren't wusses, they're simply cheaters. No excuse for it.

The one in yellow.
That match was just bizarre. Seems to me that it almost came to blows between the teams over that incident.
Also, a football pitch is the only place in the world where grown men, upon receiving even the slightest blow to any part of their body, will proceed to lie down and cry for several minutes. Thanks, Italy.

Man, I don't understand how people watch this crap. Nothing but overpaid actors, ballet dancers, and weak sissies. Not even a sport in my book. No offense, but I consider soccer "poor people" sport despite that its vastly popular.

The only reason it's not very common in soccer is because the players would want a lollipop after they took the injection, and their mommy isn't there to hold their hand.
Seriously, though...I fcking hate Italian soccer. I can't really stand soccer to begin with, but I can at least sit through some matches, but not Italy. It's one of the very few bad things about living here.

We got it buddy; you hate soccer. You do not need to let that identify yourself though, even if the whole country rubs soccer in your face. Your position sounds similar to being an athiest in the Southern US. Suck it up or GTFO.

Damn Italy must be whipped heh.
I used to play soccer and got beat up and knocked around on the field all the time. Short of a broken limb, we played on.
Italy must not know how to play a real game if all it takes is a light elbow to send them crashing to the ground.
I see the guy clutching his nose and taking a dive, yet his nose is never even touched...lol.

heard something about them contemplating having after-match judges watching through all the events, and giving yellow cards or whatever in retrospect for the dramatic actors.

I watched the NZ/Italy match on Sunday and after the first ten dives, I went to take my dog for a walk and never came back to it. The party was fun, however. I do like how Italians watch soccer though...everyone gets together in the city and drinks and food are free!
World cup football is generally of a pretty low standard compared to high quality professional football. It's crapper than usual this Cup

It's kinda like I find those softer sports compared to Rugby and Muay Thai. What's your point again?
I always tought the reason football isn't popular in the US was because you would get bullied for it in High school. It's considered a girl sport there. Real men play American football.... This gives me tons and tons of respect for the US football team.
I practice football and muay thai myself. I have alot off respect for every sport. But people like you tssss... Talk about stereotypes.

Cricket always seemed kinda pansy until I watched a match one day. I wouldn't say it's more difficult than baseball, but there's definitely some serious skill involved. And what are those balls made of? They're catching them without a glove...are they somewhat soft? They look like croquet balls, which would hurt like hell to catch in your bare hands!

Test cricket is, imho, the greatest sport in the world followed by football, but the current world cup is f**king terrible, both as an England supporter and the quality of the games so far, we've had a couple of good games tho and I'm enjoying watching Chile and Uraguay play their matches.
As for the op the decision will not be reversed barring a massive injection of common sense at FIFA, besides in 2002 a Turkey player kicked a ball at Rivaldo? while he waited for it for a corner kick, it hit him in the thigh and he went down holding his face like he'd been hit with a shovel, Turkish player was sent off and afterwards it was investigated and Rivaldo was fined ú5000, which was pathetic, 5K to a professional footballer isn't even a drop in the ocean.
If anything it's poetic justice for that incident, you reap what you sow.
The only way they will ever get rid of this type of behavior in the modern game is to use video refs and after the match suspend every decision until referees review the match again and punish every act of simulation, cheating, whatever.
The old argument of continuity and keeping the game flowing is started to look weak compared to the level of cheating that goes on, cheating might seem a harsh word but afaic it's just as bad as taking a banned substance to improve performance, sooner or later something has to happen because no matter how popular the game is it will eventually become too much and people will turn off from the game.

Whatever about video refs being used to decide fouls they seriously need it for goal decisions, I thought FIFA would cop on after the Henry handball fiasco but they just dont seem to care. -----------------------

Pffft. Aparently the fifa officials are just as corrupt as the ones from the nfl and nba. Even with video reffing they still let some humdingers through that make many many people sad pandas in the betting circles.

It is a known fact that many of the best wide receivers in USFB have taken ballet lessons to get better at getting two feet down on the sideline.
