Okay, I understand that there is a lot of maintenance involved in running a cluster especially when it come to a game like Eve.
What I don't get though is why the hell it needs to be done Everyday!
When CCP moved the servers the other day I was locked out for 48 hours! Now today, downtime is supposed to be 11:00 to 12:00 GMT. It is now 12:20 GMT ( I live in the UK ) and guess what, locked out again.
Does anyone else seem to get this issue when the severs go down, or is it just me?
Now considering I'm paying for something it seems I can't use when I want to, this is really starting to get on my nerves.
If the servers are going to be down, at least try to get the amount of time they'll be down right.
I work as a Systems admin for a finance company and let me tell you, when we say a server will be down for X amount of time, the server is back online when we say it will be.
CCP, sort yourselves out, and try to keep us informed of the correct amount of downtime, ú15 a month is a lot of money for something you can't use!!!!!

Edited by: Deryk Blacke on 26/06/2010 11:33:09 BST is not GMT.
edit: Though, I suppose at this point, some of us might agree that CCP is at fault. If they really cared about their customers, they would have somebody from the company go to the OP's home to beat them about the head with a sturdy clock until they had a clear understanding of the difference between BST and GMT.

The point your all missing is the fact that when they moved the servers I was locked out for 48 bloody hours!
Now 2 days later, I'm locked out again.
Do you really think that is fair when we actually PAY TO PLAY?

Yes.
You pay to have access whenever the server is online and ready for connections. There is always a downtime at noon.
The server actually came up 30 minutes earlier than scheduled today, and you're complaining? Please bugger off. -----

We got refunden SP etc bei CCP for the unschedule longer DT.
Daily DT is maintenance which is necessary and known to all better than weekly DTs auf 7 hours. If you wanna leav: Can I have your stuff?

Her statement is 100% accurate. UTC IS GMT. Britain is currently on BST, not UTC or GMT. Eve IS on GMT/UTC. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I really hope that's sarcasm lol. In the event its not, I'll go ahead and sigh, shake my head, bow it in shame of my human race, and then point out that you just spent 1 whole dollar of gametime (50 cents per day) for an expansion. Two whole days that is actually going to me compensated for anyways with the free SP and Toy Ship.
How many other pay-to-play MMO's give you free expansions? Additionally, eve's downtime is actually less then most other MMO's, including WOW and Everrcack
Also, who actually goes this long with their clocks not updated to Daylight Savings? LOL Do you have any sort of life?

You fail at summertime...
You also fail at reading the EULA... We pay to play when the server is up, nothing more. If you dont like it, cancel your subscribtion and let the rest of us play a game with relatively few bugs compared to other MMOs out there because of a well maintained server.

I'm talking about the fact that this week along, Ive lost around 49 - 50 hrs game time due to DT!
I mean if you went to the movies, payed your money and then they were like, sorry, you gotta wait 48 hours before you can see the film, what would you say?
In my OP I said and I quote 'I understand the need for maintenance' but the ammount of time I've lost this week due to DT is beyond a bloody joke!

You were locked out for the unexpected downtime, a duration of ~48 hours. If you can accurately predict the future and see unexpected events before they unfold you can solve many more problems then EVE's downtime
The remainder of your 'loss' is no fault of CCPs, I would classify it as classic PEBKAC.

Downtime started about 41 minutes ago, It'll be up any second now... nope, wait its up! So you lost 40 minutes instead of a full hour, keep counting your minutes and soon you'll owe CCP money for the ~20 minutes per day extra they allow you to play for free!
Daily downtime is always scheduled for 1 hour at this very same time, and it usually comes up BEFORE the hour they say.

no, that's not the proper analogy
the proper analogy is that you bought movie tickets online and went down to the theater, only to find that they had done some electrical work and it was on fire. Sorry, no movie tonight. So, the nice manager apologizes, gives you a voucher for a free popcorn, and sends you on your way.
this thread is the equivalent of you banging on the theater door at 4am two days later demanding to see your movie and eat your popcorn despite the fact that the theater's closed.

So, you pay around 2ó US (a pence) an hour to play EVE each month (not paying for that hour of downtime).
The server was down for 28 hours (not including the hour of DT before it started nor an hour of DT which would have taken place regardless).
So what you are saying is that you want 56ó US (37 pence) for the time that you were unable to play?
Tell you what, I'll mail that to you if you cover postage and pay a $15 handling fee...
