A bud of mine recently got on singularity to test the new propultion changes. He popped a 100mn AB onto a Ferox, moves in a straigt line, and activates his AB. While his maximum speed exceeds what it was on tranquility, he tells me that it took him more than 10 activations to reach his top speed. Is this a the dev's new vision of the AB, or is the accelaration decrease some kind of bug on BCs? Needless to say, the long time it takes to build up speed coupled with it's higher grid and cap usage would make oversized AB's pretty much unworkable. _______________________________________________ Don't look at me like that, you knew I was posion when you picked me up! |

Nope, no bug.

That's the whole point. To deter people from oversizing. I bet your friend didn't once check out the 10mn afterburner, did he? Maybe he should. He'll be pleasantly surprised. ----- ----- -----

Edited by: Dred 'Morte on 15/12/2004 20:54:58 Normal Sized ABs dont give more than 130% boost, Useless Oversized ABs dont work anymore, useless Multiple ABs dont work MWD still removes 25% cap, sucks.
all this = worse setups = cant kill some bigger rats = less isk making = sad customer = bad
do i need to say anything more? make changes taht make us happy, not sad, ignore the ******* whiners, they dont care about us because they dont need oversized ABs...

Get it in to your head. You are not meant to use oversized AB. If you want to move fast use MWD, that is CCPs intention.
Ultra speed frigates and cruisers break CCP's crappy NPC AI. So they are nerfing them to force you to upgrade to a bigger ship and tank. Adapt or die. --------------------------------------------------

the main problem with MWD is not cap, it's sig radius. Why do we want to move fast in non-bs ships? because non-bs ships can't tank bs, so they use great speed to making bs guns miss.
What does MWD sig radius do? it makes it very easy for bs guns to hit you. So.. the MWD speed advantage is neutralized by the sig radius.
Frigates will still do fine with new ABs, but cruisers and battlecruisers get shafted, they become too easy to hit no matter what their setup

I disagree. If CCP didn't want people to use oversized stuff, all they would have to do is make it so you can't fit them. This would be so much simpler than the current nerf. Since this is not what CCP has done, I think they are trying to "balance" them instead. As if the increase grid and cap usage isn't enough, now even if you can fit one on a cruiser, it still totally blows. In what situation would anyone EVER use an oversized AB now? _______________________________________________ Don't look at me like that, you knew I was posion when you picked me up! |

agreed that and it takes 40 minutes to take a bs to a single gate in a deedspace mission as ccp thought it would be a good idea to stop them working in ds

The other problem with BC (and indeed destroyers) is that there is no 'right size' for them ... they're half way between 2 ship classes. Granted they're closer to the lower class than the one above in terms of mass, but fitting a frigate mod on a DD and a cruiser mod on a BC will never give you even close to 100% efficiency.

Hardwiring goes against the principles of CCP's fitting system ("if you can fit it you can use it"). Note the Covert Ops cloak and strip miners. Instead of taking the simple route and hardcoding that they can only fit on certain types of ships, CCP gave them insane reqs, and gave the ships bonuses to make fitting them possible. You could fit BS guns on a frigate if you could somehow get the grid. --------------------------------------------------

Right.
Forget BC's in PvP (destroyers have some role, but not much).
SO gg, PvE is really boosted since Exodus. Shame I PvP

If you need to go that fast to fight, get some balls and get in a frigate.
