So my corp is moving out to null sometimes and it would be good to be prepared to make use of nullsec escalations up to 10/10. So what kind of ship have proven to be good at plexing?
I'm thinking either Tengu/Nighthawk, Ishtar, or maybe even a carrier. I have asked around and some told me that Ishtar is best due to its lack of ammo use and agility/sig. I wonder if any amarr boats can do those effectively. I'm also thinking about getting a Carrier as a medium/long term goal but have been told that using it to rat is just a gank magnet as a cyno would attract every "afk" cloaker in the area or something.

Having killed and saved carriers ratting in plexes in 0.0 far, far, far too often I can assure you that you should never ever ever ever ever do a plex in a carrier. It's like holding a state fair--everyone comes from miles around, and the main attraction is trying to kill you.

It would help to know which type of rats will be the local flavor.

While you might be able to clear much of a 10/10 plex solo, you will not have the DPS to destroy certain Overseers/Structures, which means you be missing out of the only reason to run plexes, the high-end loot. Most any ship that can be well-utilized in other areas of PVP are strong choices for complexes: The Raven/CNR/Golem and Dominix are solid and come with customizable damage types, although other rat-specific ships will almost always be better.
You can't actually bring carriers into complexes. Provided there is a station in the system, they can be great for Anomalies; otherwise, you shouldn't use it for PVE.

Doing this is like feeding stray cats - only do it if you want to keep doing it more and more.

If you're heading to Serpentis/Guristas Space use a Tengu, its by far the best ratting ship for those areas. The only comparable ships should be Golem/Vaugur wich will be way more Expensive. Nighthawk is basicly a slightly worse Tengu with very large cargo that can be usefull if you plan large trips. Oh and if you use a carrier, park it at a POS and asign fighters to your main with a combat ship. Its pretty usefull and boosts your bounty ticks a lot.
Btw: Dont try to solo a Maze

Never use a carrier in system that is not a lovely shade of green/blue. takes seconds to lock you down and call in a supercap drive by. Despite popular opinion...not all afk cloakers are no skill players. Some have good probing skills and have bm'd all the ca's and plexes in system. They don't need the cyno. Haven in system, carrier on scan...run down the bm's they have. Will find you quick even if they logged into system after your cyno burned out minutes ago.
Carriers are more for high ca's like sanctums and havens. Eats these for breakfast once skilled up.
