It is well known industry is a well loathed part of eve for a lot of people but for others its the bread and butter of the game. There are a few dedicated industry ships in the came, for example an osprey or exequeror (and haulers of).
These ships are relatively rubbish compared to the ORE counterparts which are usually for the more experienced player and based off what they can do make the osprey etc somewhat obsolete in a mining capacity.
With the advent of the Primae ship, specialized by ORE for planetary interaction, i propose a new set of ships produced by ORE that would make life easier for industrialists.
For example, the ORCA is an essential mining platform just because of its boosts and capacity, however its large and slow and costs a lot to build. if you bought the orca blueprint you would need blueprints for capital components or to buy said components making it more expensive and harder to build let alone its 370mil pricetag.
I suggest making new ORE ships specalised for specific tasks, such as a cruiser/battlecruiser sized ship that has a rubbish cargohold but has a dedicated ore hold, 1 gang link and tractor bonus.
Another ship that can compress ore like the rorqual but with less capacity and less efficiency? (or something that can refine ore like the mobile refinieries on POS's but with less efficiency).
Maybe a ship that has no hi slots but has a bonus to number of mining drones it can field similar to a carrier? or something that can produce things in space but take twice as long to do so (but obviously cant produce ships)
These ships would need to be cheaper than an orca indevidually but would also need to be easier to build by using just minerals or maybe non capital components?
Given the sheer volume of class of combat ships i think its only fair to add some more industrial class ships?

I would like to suggest having rigs that can add an ore bay to ships also (or increase one if it already exists) or possibly even some more industrial rigs that say augment mining lasers duration/amounts?

But in reality I have no opinion on adding new ships, except that making a specialised version for each job takes a bit of the sandboxeynesss out of Eve.

They didn't make those for a reason I think, more modules that increase yield would just make everything cheaper wouldn't it?

i dont think it does take any sandbox-ness out. At the moment the only way to compress ore is using a rorqual and its predominantly designed for 0.0. Being able to do this in hisec might proove a boost to the compressed ore business and as such will make it easier for larger 0.0 conglomorates as the ore is ready when bought
as for mining laser augmentation modules. I dont see how this is any worse to the drone mining amount augmentors. a fleet using mining drones effectively gives them x more hulks mining power. on the flip side i do see how this could cause a problem as drone mining yields are tiny compared to strip miners and thus increasing them by a few percent results in a massive increase in yield
I would still like to see a dedicated ore hauler/compresser/refiner and as i said, maybe a ship that gets drone control bonuses to mining drones only?
This thread isnt just limited to the mining side of industry, does anyone want to put forth some suggestions for any aspect of industry that can be made into a ship?

Nothing short of the rorq does anything magical like compression with ore. reason being in empire except for the very rare systems in empire..got at least 1 station everywhere you go. Rorq operates in low/null where that not possible. Take orca, dump it off when cargo, corp hangar, and ore hold filled. If filling it up every cycle...your mining operation might need another orca or some haulers to keep orca out longer for fleet bonus giving.
Ore has limited ship selection cause its a limited field. Only ship its really missing is a gas harvester spec ship (rock, ice and mercoxite got theirs already).

good idea i dont think ccp woulud go for it though, perhaps racial flavours available from each of the empires LP industrial leaning corp factions

I support the spirit of this idea. There has to be a lot more possible in the industrial / mining space. Gas haulers, mineral haulers, ore haulers, cruiser-sized ships with very specific roles.
How about a completely new set of ships for Empire mining crews. Not as big as Hulks/Orcas/Rorquals, each with their specific functionality.
Although ore can be refined anywhere in hi-sec, not every station allows for manufacturing. We have concrete mixers that mix concrete on the way to the wharf. Why not have single-module inserts that make components as the ship is traveling through space.
There's room for lots of ideas here.
I don't mind the plethora of combat ships, the industrial side of EVE can be much enhanced by expanding its scope and capabilities. And, all these new ships become targets for somebody. It's a win-win for all of New Eden.

This could be explored with the new T3 system thats in place. Maybe a T3 Hulk that has various subsystems that modify it for different aspects of industry instead of adding a buttload of new ships?

Lol, and price of that ship ? Much bigger than orca + hulk :))). So, not realy alternative. ------------------------------------------------

i would also summize that in the next few months pos fuels and modiles will skyrocket in price due to NPC orders for trade comodities being nerfed. This means to meet supply there will need to be a lot of people doing PI. As with anything, the more that gets blown up means the more resources are needed to replace things in a timely manner. with all the new stuff going on in eve (PI, Wormhole salvaging etc) i would like to see more ORE ships. Maybe a brother to the Primae that can give some form of boost to PINS when its nearby? maybe a mobile launch platform where you have to buy (or manufacture) rockets that can launch things down to your Spaceport.
having to make or buy the rockets would mean you arent doing it for free but it could be an alternate to having to warp to customs offices which can get dangerous during war/lowsec or in 0.0
in response to the comment of almost all systems in empire having a station to refine things, this is mostly true but there are systems where people mine with no station using an orca, it would be nice if that could refine ore on the spot (at a lesser efficiency) to prolong the orca being on the field instead of it having to travel back to a base that could be a few jumps away, the same can be said for lowsec in hostile situations?
Does anyone have any additional things they would like to see? Modules, ships, rigs, whatever?
Shiny New things are always the best :)
