I have to ask, why is the store Based in the US and so GODDAMN expensive?
I've been playing since release and I thought "Humm, those moleskin books would be good for my EvE related scribbles" so I set up an account, got to the checkout and realised it'd cost almost double the item cost to get it shipped to the UK. $95 ( ú63 ) for 2 notepads.
I was just wondering why the hell a 'mainly' EU based game would place their only store on the wrong continent? Its kind of put me off buying anything from it in all honesty.

I believe the U.S. has just over 37% of the player base and the EU has something like 33-35%. Links any one? -

Why does the E-ON Magazine have to be based out of London? For a game with a large percentage of Americans as its userbase, it would make more sense for the fan-zine to be based in America.

But still, Logistically for a shop its not really Central to anything but the U.S, it's only a few % ... Guess I'm just annoyed I can't get my hands on anything EvE related untill prices come down or a new EU store opens. =(

They could at least make the magazines available in PDF's. It feels like it's exclusive for US players.

Why would a primarily northern hemisphere based game not place their distribution facility at the North Pole?

Sponsor someone in your country a bit with others to go to fanfest and have him bring back everything you want for inland package fees. It's a typical courier contract. -------- All I want is a better mankind.

Santa Claus runs the distribution facility at the North Pole, and he does not currently have the capacity to take in new clients.

True, it's not impossable to get ahold of anything it's just costing me $46 right off the bat for anything to be sent to me by fed ex... which I know from past experiances will probebly incur more charges when it arrives.

considering the economy, the EU players spend a lot more than the US players on merchandize. That alone should encourage ccp to make a store in the EU.
I buy new junk each month that I don't need and I know a lot of others do to.
Could be because EU don't have to pay for health care or something..
When I was in Island at the fanfest I bought a suitcase of stuff.. sold it all for 100% profit in 3 days. That's how well stuff sells inside the EU.
Think about it ccp.. :)

Actually, there's 20+ countries in North America, but only one of them has militarily occupied Iceland.

Personally I can't see why they don't have more than 1 distribution centre, 1 US, 1 Euro, and whatever else covers a large percentage of the players countries.
Surely it's not that hard to have a centralised ordering system (the eve store) and then send the order detail down to the more local centre? +_+

I would've thought that, I don't mind it's un U.S dollars with no option to change it. However I do mind Paying extortionate Transport fees that cost more than the product I'm ordering =(
At least with 2 distribution centres you could order on the U.S website and not have to pay to get it from there.

There is a reason we based it in Atlanta instead of in Iceland but I can't find the reason right now. I'm sure someone with Internet Search III or VI can dig this up. As far as shipping items across the pond being expensive you need to ask Fed Ex why . We are currently looking into more shipping options that should be added soon, like the USPS.
Also EON Magazine is published independently by MMM Publishing so shipping will be different from their location

Thanks for the post CCP Zy, I must admit every experiance I've had with Fed-ex has been a bad one. I recently paid for a character bust from the U.S which cost me ú95 ( WIth ú35 fed ex shipping ontop of that ) then .. for some reason I get a mail through the post from red-ex saying I then owe them another ú35 for Import tax =/ Although I think thats not their fault I do think they should put things like that inclusive in their prices if they're going to ship to certain countries. =(

I don't mean to sound .. racist but the United states only counts in their own eyes, noone else particulally likes it, infact we're more pro-canada than the U.S
The question was really asking why CCP decided to make a store based in the U.S, comparitavely speaking. It might be larger but it doesn't have the diversity of Europe as a whole, it doesn't matter what state in america you're from they all generally have the same taste in everything unlike over here. I personally thought it would've been a better choice as a whole, but I like the idea of a US and an EU store at least.

Cause it seemed like a good idea at the time? Seriouspost suggest cause the White Wolf store was there and they could be merged into one store, much to my dismay as I preferred european shipping prices.
