Seriously you're right enough though but it's never going to change now. Patch day = complete day of downtime really. Well it is if you've been around for long enough and know what to expect. Those who haven't will no doubt be around later today to tell us in mindnumbing detail about their personal ship/ore/whatever losses

Indeed. The huge insurance scam and only a fraction of the playerbase could login to "take advantage" of it (note I didn't use the "e" word ). Eve's one and only rollback in retail play.
